Hmmmm, sounds like Indy might be a good opportunity for a beer-gate. I went by the local Spec's (huge liquor distributor here in Houston) and they have quite the selection that I could choose from. Anyone else interested in a beer tasting event at Indy?
DE - I am not sure about my Indy plans yet. I will be staying in Ruston that w/e, but I expect my usual crew will want to go over with plenty of time to tailgate. I could probably rustle up some items to contribute, but I would definitely need to plan that SOON, since I will leave for Ruston on Tuesday. In order for this to work, we need to have someone with definitive plans to hold a tailgate spot and host.
I figure if we hit RhinoDog up, he'll let us beergate at his spot
Where is RhinoDog's spot?
Had one of DogtorEvil's Octoberfest beers. It was the bomb.
Tried 3 new ones last night that I took to the Texas Bowl: We didn't have any time pre-game to tailgate, freaking Papasito's took forever to serve last night (they're typically ridiculously fast). Great Divide Fresh Hop Pale Ale. Blech, Neither I nor my fellow hop head could finish it. Bad beer. Avery Reverend Quadruple Belgian. Only had a swig of this; buddy's' wife drank the rest. Strong alcohol content. A bit sweet. A good quad Bel though and not nearly as expensive as the Monk versions. Lagunitas Maximus IPA. Good.
Had 3 EXCELLENT beers last night: Dupont - Avec Les Bons Voeux - Belgian/Saison/Farmhouse Ale style. I highly recommend this beer. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/637/1716 Terrapin Wake & Bake - Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout . I love Imperial Stouts and this one is like drinking an espresso beer. Yummy. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/2372/21950/ Left Hand Snowbound - Winter Ale. Tastes just like gingerbread. Good stuff. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/418/33933 I had each of these on draft, but will try to locate some bottles because these were all most excellent beers.
Chad, tried the Terrapin Rye Pale Ale last night. Very good. The rye didn't overpower. Thanks. Also had a Rogue Santa's Private Reserve Pale Ale. Nice mediun beer, not too hoppy, not to malty. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile...?ba=hellomcfly
Victory Storm King Stout = excellent stout
Matt, I agree on the Victory Storm King. I was trying to give you some at the game. Tonight I picked up some Vielle Provision - which is another "Saison" or "Farmhouse Ale" beer from DuPont. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/637/1717/ I also picked up a few bottles of Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/220/20445
