In Tallahassee, they have Fullers ESB on a pull tap. I cannot drink it any other way now. I have another Unibroue 17 in my beer fridge presently - also have a Lagunitas Hop Stoopid.

Have you ever had any of Allagash's brews? They are in Maine and make many different Belgian varieties. I think they are all pretty solid.

As far as I can tell, I do not like Brett beers. My only experience was the Avery Saison 15. I do not think sour goes with barnyard funk. It is just wrong on so many levels.

I have never had a Russian River product, but I know they get high marks. How extensively do they distribute?

Yeah, I dont like Brett beers either, but I could tell the Consecration was something special for those who do.

You can get Russian River Pliny the Elder and Blind Pig off the internet, and sometimes Damnation, and a few other specialty beers when bottled. But everything else they make is usually brew-pub only. And sometimes on a few taps in LA, SF, Denver, and Philly.

Tripel Karmeliet, 8.4% abv. This tripel from Belgium was awesome.

I don't think I can order beer online to be shipped to Georgia. I know I cannot do that with wine. Damn commies.

Hey now, that's thanks to the fundies. Alcohol is freely available in all the "commie socialist" states.

Anyways, American Craft Beer Week was last week. Lots of events here in NOLA, but I only went to the one at Avenue Pub (a great bar that has re-invented itself in the last 6 months from standard drunken hangout to a craft beer heaven). $15 for 12 4oz tastings.

On tap, I had: Bear Republic Racer 5, North Coast Brother Thelonious, NOLA Brown... also had some Sierra Nevada Souther Hemisphere, Lazy Magnolia Reb Ale, North Coast Old Stock, Anchor Christmas, North Coast Pranqster... and a few others...

At the end of the night, the bar owner let the few of us left empty out all the open bottles... of which there were about 20. That was pretty awesome.

Tried some Young's Doubt Choc Stout at Rice's on campus pub. It tasted like an alcoholic chocolate malt. It had a very dominant choc taste. It was okay, just odd that the choc taste was so heavy to me.

Fat Tire from the New Belgium Brewing Company, 5.2% abv, amber ale. NBB just started distributing into Georgia, so I figured I would give this very popular "micro" brew a try. This beer is as overrated as Shiner Bock. I should confess that I am not a big fan of the "amber ale" style - they are so boring. I would call this a cross-over type beer for the macro brew crowd. Not offensive, but slightly more interesting than a Budweiser. It pours with a nice head, but has a very thin mouth feel (it is kind of a paradox in this regard). That is all I could possibly say about this brew.

I keep a 4 pack of Young's DCS in my beer fridge for the very rare occassion that I want one.

Lagunitas Hairy Eyeball, 8.8% abv, American Strong Ale. Actually had to look up what type of this beer was on beer advocate because it is not labeled and the taste profile is a bit different than anything else I have had. It is like a half-step removed from a barley wine. Definely a barley malt, but there are some strange fruit flavors lurking in the background (raison, plums, maybe a touch of citrus). Not bad. In some ways it also reminds me of a Belgium quad.
