Lookin for some help with a write up on our basketball team
I'm looking for Louisiana Tech basketball info, such as greatest players, greatest plays, rivalries, traditions, conference championships. Anything that could give a quick rundown of our program in the past. Clearly, I could just use Google, but I feel fans have a much better grasp on their team than wikipedia does.
Re: Lookin for some help with a write up on our basketball team
A writer that covers UTEP wrote this one for his CUSA preview. It was pretty well researched.

Notable alums:
Mike Green
Scotty Robertson
Leon Barmore
Karl Malone
PJ Brown
Paul Millsap
The one that got away: Joe Dumars (would have played on same team as Malone).
Best season, 1985.
Sorry for not writing more, but I am at work.
Re: Lookin for some help with a write up on our basketball team
Rivalries: not ULM
On a serious note.. Paul Millsap was the 1st player ever to average the most RPG three straight years.
Mike Green

Check out the early 70's with the Mike Green years. If the stats were kept the same way they do now, Mike Green and the rest of the team would own ALL the stats records. Rivalries during that time period were usl with Dwight Lamar and Cetenary with Robert Parish. I watched a game one night where our team beat a visiting Auburn team by more than 50 points.

Whoa, pardner. Me and my stat chart resemble that 1970s remark.

The Mike Green era was one of the best. I was there the night Willie "Two Shoes" Odom got his nickname. Also, one time Wille did something stupid during the game and Scotty made him go sit at the end of the bench. It pi$$ed the crowd of so bad, everyone started yelling WILLIE, WILLIE, WILLIE. Scotty had to put him back in the game to shut us up. It was funny. My senior year, 1970-71, I didn't miss a game played in the State of Louisiana.

I was at that game also and will never forget Two Shoes. Andy Knowles and Jenkins were formidable as playmakers and shooting guard. If they had a 3 point shot in those days, Andy would be up there with the best long range shooters. I remember several times when Andy would get just past the half court and pop the net. You also have to remember that the dunk was illegal back then. Mike would just jump up with the rim at his arm pits and drop the ball into the basket and he often didn't block the shot but picked it out of the air for a turnover.

I think it was the last home game of Jim Jenkin's senior year. Jenkins stole the ball and did a reverse jam dunk and hung on the rim. Of course he got a technical and I thought Scotty was going to croak.
Let's see. Green, Knowles, Jenkins, and Odom. Who else was on that team? Tommy Joe?
Another question: What was USL's coach's name. I loved it when he would get so mad, he would yank his sport coat off and throw it at his chair.

It might have been Greg Procell. I wasn't born until 1972, but I know that Greg Procell could still shoot the lights out in the 1990s.

Didn't Procell play for Nothwestern?

Shipley called the Southland Conference a Mickey Mouse operation. SLC Commissioner Dick Oliver, after threatening a fine, ordered Shipley to apologize for his remarks.
At a specially called press conference, Shipley waiting for everyone's mic to come on and and he said, "I'm sorry, Mickey."

It was the Auburn game where Jinkens stole the ball and dunked. The crowd went wild. I should have been in my room studying for a test, but I had to make that game. It was during finals I believe.

And you probably had been there at MGym since 5 p.m. when they opened the doors. Seats didn't last long those years.
