To SWarner63 and other recent players

I didn't want to derail another thread with this question but it just popped in my head after noticing your increased activity on the board. I suspect as players, you all, or at least most of you, were aware of this board and many probably read it a bit. But, one thing that was obvious is that the athletes don't post except in very rare exceptions. My question is were the athletes, as far as you know, discouraged or even forbidden from participating on message boards of this type and particularly this one? It's always great to get a former athlete to chime in with his experiences, and we all relished the moments when Coach Micky Slaughter would bless us with a tale or two, but no current athlete would ever join in to give any type of insight. I was just curious as to if that was because of too busy a schedule with the sport and school work or if it had more to do with a prohibition from higher up.

It wasn't prohibited, it was more of a thing where everybody read the stuff on here but you just didn't get involved. Because this is more of a fan board, my perception on it was that it was a place for fans to release frustrations and aggravations and as a player it would probably be best if I didn't read alot of the threads on here and listen to some of the stuff that was said because most of it wasn't how people really felt but more their expression of anger at certain things that happened. I know we have the best fans in the world, but I also know that if I delved off into alot of these forums I'd come out saying "man we suck and have no chance to win at all" especially in the early Dooley years. But we did talk about some of the stuff that we read on here, especially the look-a-like threads. Those were always fun. Haha

If that's the case, I hope Dave Clark doesn't have my home address.

Doubt you'd have much trouble with him. He wasn't known for his ability to defend.

Hahahaha some of the Dave stuff I saw on here was pretty bad. Definitely a hot topic in the o-line meeting room on a regular basis. Also, alot of you guys are pretty creative haha

...and there you have it. Well, for all of you who read but don't post...just sayin' we love you guys and ladies who proudly wear the blue and red. And I have to say to SW, Colby, The General, Gruuuuuuuu, Mills and all of the 30+ seniors on our team from last year that y'all made us old Dawgs proud. I don't know that I've ever been MORE proud of my University than the scenes of you guys in San Diego in 2011 with Make-A-Wish, your visits to the childrens hospitals, being real HEROES in a world sadly void of many. Virtual high-5's from this alumnus and fan.

I know at one time, many moons ago, around the advent of the internet message board, it was rumored that the athletic department staff was prohibited from posting on here and even, if I'm not mistaken, the Daily Leader or the other paper that's gone defunct, forbade its employees from posting on here.
