How the new coaches are doing around the nation...
*(Preface - I wasn't a fan of our hire, and I still am not a fan. I just want everyone to see the picture.)

I think we're the only team in this category that even has a shot at being .500 for the year.

Oh snap. Does this mean if we replaced Skip we might do worse? (see USF)
Re: How the new coaches are doing around the nation...
...and here is the rest of the coach changes from last year...
Out of the 30 - only 13 have a chance to finish .500 or better...

I do think we all should pay careful attention to USF because we may hope to progress but may regress...

Southern Miss too. Sometimes, it's not the coach.

True...but...let's not forget who was at USF...and who recruited USF for 3 years...and who put USF in the position where they needed to replace the coach...
I think it's clear that hiring a new coach definitely takes time. It looks like 40% of the teams that replaced their coach have a chance to be above .500, but by the end of the year, we may see that 65% of teams that replaced their coach will finish with a losing record.

I agree. What's strange about our situation is that we lost a successful coach and the new coach can't match the old coach's performance (like Ellis Johnson at USM). It seems like our program should have been heading in the right direction and anyone could step in and keep the ball rolling (like Dykes did with Dooley's team). But in fact, our coach (and perhaps USM's Fedora) destroyed our program, left the program before having to deal with the rebuilding, and left that mess for the next guy to clean up. And Sonny skips town looking like a genius. Thanks man, appreciate that!

Now that's about the only pleasant subject we can discuss right now when it comes to our football.
Re: How the new coaches are doing around the nation...
In general teams replace a coach because of bad performance. I'd expect a first year coach to be taking over a struggling team most of the time. In our case, the coach was successful and was hired away. How many of those coaches listed came into that situation?
