Mason Andrews - Youngest to fly solo around the world
If you are not familiar with this young man, he is having quite an adventure dodging typhoons, encountering mechanical problems, etc, in his attempt to become the youngest person to fly solo around the world. He is in the Tech Aviation program. In the latest post, his father is asking for help from anyone who might have connections in Nome Alaska. Mason is in northern Russia right now, and is expected to fly to Nome (weather permitting) this weekend. I have attached a link to Mason's Facebook page below.

No, but I once met a dude from Juneau at a conference. He promised he would show me the only gay bar in Alaska if I ever made it up that way.
Nevermind … I now see that Nome is another 1,100 miles from there. But good luck to Mason!

Has he completed the trip yet?

He's back on the continent but I'm not sure he's back in the 48 yet.

This is from his father a few minutes ago:
Tuesday PM MedCamps Mission Update: Mason will head for Roswell New Mexico in the morning after getting some much needed rest with the Wonderful Folks of Casper Wyominghttps://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/e...3/16/1f920.pnghttps://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/e...f1fa_1f1f8.png He will spend Wednesday night there in Roswell, keeping a SHARP eye out for aliens! lol He will make the run into Dallas Executive Thursday afternoon and be hosted by Mr. and Mrs. John Peroyea. On Friday, he will arrive at an undisclosed location before making his OFFICIAL Guinness World Record return to Monroe Regional Airport at 9:00am on Saturday morning at the Pilots for Patients hangarhttps://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/e...3/16/1f642.png All are welcome to come out and welcome him home! There are some significant TSA security regulations we MUST adhere to OR Pilots for Patients could be subjected to fines. Everyone will have to stay inside the hangar and not be outside on the tarmac or around the aircraft. We are asking everyone to abide by this as the Pilots for Patients Mission is too important to compromise! Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturdayhttps://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/e...3/16/1f642.png #HBTD#medcampsmission #LATECHAVhttps://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/e.../3/16/2708.png✈️https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/e...f1fa_1f1f8.png

Awesome. What a great thing for everyone involved.
Re: Mason Andrews - Youngest to fly solo around the world
TNS rag is shameless. They did all they could do to not mention LaTech. It was barely mentioned, but him being a Monroe guy was big news. I reckon (according to TNS) Jamie Mayo and Louis Farakan had something to do with this great feat?
Re: Mason Andrews - Youngest to fly solo around the world
This young man is flying around the world to make it to a Tech football game Saturday night in Ruston.
How about you?

Here is an update for those of you in Dallas:
Dear Friends! Mason Andrews, an 18 year old pilot and Louisiana Tech Professional Aviation student has successfully earned several new world records for crossing the Atlantic, the Pacific and now, completing his round the world flight in his PA 32R-300. He will make his last stop THIS Thursday at KRBD at Ambassador Jet Center at 3:30PM Dallas time. It would be really nice for many to be there to welcome this special fellow aviator to Dallas as his last stop before he returns to Monroe, Louisiana for the completion of the new world record. He will be available for interviews as well, so let's see how many media folks we can muster up. Mason did this to call attention to MedCamps, a non-profit entity benefitting special needs persons, a cause Mason has been very involved with. I hope many North Texas Aviators can be there to welcome Mason as he completes his outstanding world record setting flight! #HBTD #medcampsmission #LATECHAV
A later update came out from his father this morning:
Update on Dallas Executive Airport: The Gathering has outgrown the Ambassador Jet Center. The Airport Director has approved moving it to the main terminal building so if you are planning to come out to Dallas Executive tomorrow, please go to the MAIN Terminal at 3:00PM. Thanks
Re: Mason Andrews - Youngest to fly solo around the world
You gotta love it.
First we sell out our LSU allotment (and more).
Then, we sell out our NTexas allotment (and more).
Now, we are moving airports. Hell, shut down DFW like Air Force One could do.
Re: Mason Andrews - Youngest to fly solo around the world
Is there a website that shows the entire route Mason took on his trip around the world?

I am not aware of one. They had to make so many changes to their route along the way due to weather. The only way I know is to follow all of the posts on the Facebook site that was in the first post on this thread.
