Re: Report: Tech hires new Defensive Coordinator - Bob Diaco
Bend don't break , no more pressure defense . Skip better score a bunch of points to win with this 3-4 defenses . We have no Vince Wilfork to plug the middle and had a hard time with finding 2 good linebackers , now we will need 4 .
I hope I am wrong. The Texas score will be terrible and may demoralize the team for the rest of the year and kill attendance at the same time .

DC at Nebraska and Notre Dame...looks good on paper.
Re: Report: Tech hires new Defensive Coordinator - Bob Diaco
From article in Football Scoop, Tech is but a stepping stone:
http://footballscoop.com/news/report...ordinator-job/
Diaco will be the new defensive coordinator at Louisiana Tech. He replaces Blake Baker, who left to become the defensive coordinator on Manny Diaz’s staff at Miami. Both Baker and Diaz used their success on defense at Louisiana Tech to help them land jobs at the Power 5 level. Baker at Miami, and Diaz turned it into an opportunity to run the defense at Mississippi State (for a second time), and then Miami. Like Diaz, who prior to Louisiana Tech ran the defense at Texas and Mississippi State, Diaco will have the unique opportunity to follow a similar blueprint if he can maintain the success LA Tech has had under both Baker and Diaz.
Re: Report: Tech hires new Defensive Coordinator - Bob Diaco
Fired at UConn, HC
Fired at Nebraska, DC (102nd in total defense)

Am I missing something?
Re: Report: Tech hires new Defensive Coordinator - Bob Diaco
No, sadly I think not . He is on the downward spiral . Look at some of the Nebraka videos of him talking about his poor defense.
Re: Report: Tech hires new Defensive Coordinator - Bob Diaco
I didn't think Baker was a great coach but at least he did improve somewhat, some great talent helped and we'll never know how much Skip's bonehead play calls affected him.
This looks like a backwards move. My immediate gut reaction is that this is another cushy friend-hire but I don't have any way of knowing that.

Notre Dame
Diaco followed Kelly to Notre Dame in 2010, taking the same position as defensive coordinator.[2] In 2012, Notre Dame finished the year ranked second in points allowed per game (12.8) and appeared in the 2013 BCS National Championship Game. Diaco was awarded the Broyles Award, which recognizes the top assistant coach in college football.[3]

That's not bad (44th at Cincinnati is really not that bad either).

It always is a backward move when he's replacing a guy that got a P5 coordinator job.

Did my undergrad at Nebraska (am from there too, big Husker fan). All I can say is...I hope this time it's different.

Yeah, you were missing the good seasons on his resume.
The Football Scoop stuff doesn't offend me - of course he'll be looking to succeed in order to get a higher paying job. As long as he succeeds first, it's all good.
I saw the other coaching hires on instagram, but didn't see discussion here. Maybe I missed it?

Which all came before...
Maybe he's just on a 3 year unlucky streak.

Well, maybe.
Certainly he's responsible for his teams as a HC. And for the defense as a DC. But both of those situations have reasonable explanations. He may stink here. Who knows? But I don't think that position coaches (or even head coaches) have completely linear careers - I think they have good years and bad years and sure - probably the very best or very lucky have a higher floor and higher ceiling than average, and I would be concerned about a coordinator with no "good" years, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.
