Extra Innings Win at Little Rock
I checked in on the stat broadcast in the 8th, with Tech up 3-2. They let LR even it up 3-3 in the 9th.
Things were not looking great in the 12th when a pinch runner promptly got picked off at first for the 2nd out. But the next Tech batter got plunked by a pitch and took 1st.
Up comes Parker Bates, who was 0-for-6 on the night. Of course, he promptly nailed a a double into left.
The runner on 1st hauled it around the bases and got home safely (unlike a couple of runners last Sunday), and LR made a wild throw home that let Bates get to third. That triggered another LR throwing error, and hero Bates ran home to make it 5-3 Tech. They closed it out in the bottom of the 12th for the road win.
That was pretty exciting for watching a stat page update. Video of the final two runs is on the Diamond Dogs Twitter feed.
I agree with the coach's post-game comments that wins can't be taken for granted. Even the best teams--LSU is famous for it--often drop mid-week games to small schools. And LR is no community college; they have over 11,000 students.

That was a great write-up of the game!
UALR has been more than a thorn in recent years. A regular pain-in-the-@ss in my book. Glad we got the road win! HBTD!

I thought it was very interesting in the video of the winning hit where I didn’t see our third base coach waving the guys around the bases he was just backpedal running towards the plate as if to encourage the runner to follow him home. Waving would’ve been a sign to the other team of what was going on and the urgency they should be in to make the play where backpedaling can go unnoticed. A very clever concept.

So odd to see you guys call them Little Rock. Local folks in Little Rock still call them UALR. Even the UALR grads I work with have not adopted LR name.

LR was one of the biggest reasons why Tech didn’t get an NCAA invite last year. Defeating them doesn’t help hugely this year but it definitely doesn’t hurt.

Had so many chances to blow this one wide open. 18 LOB and if the relay would have been good TY prolly would have been out at the plate. We got lucky on that one.

If we had lost to a 1-6 UALR last night, it would be a NCAA repeat of last year. We have to get the bats back that we had against SLU. It seems the pitching has somewhat calmed down, but the bats have gone into sleep mode a lot lately and the defense hasn't been stellar either.
