RUSTON, La. –Former Louisiana Tech First Team All-American Ryan Allen punted for the Tennessee Titans in Sunday's 24-17 victory over the Chicago Bears in Nashville. Allen, Tech's first unanimous First Team All-American honoree in school history, also was the first Bulldog punter to win the Ray Guy Award in back-to-back years (2011 and 2012).

FYI....Ryan Allen was the first player in college football history to win back-to-back Ray Guy awards for the nations top punter. (Baylor's Daniel Sepulveda had won it twice, but not in back to back years.) Your paragraph below on this subject is poorly written and doesn't properly emphasize the importance of being the first college football player to ever accomplish this fete.

Re: Week 9 NFL #ProDogs Update - latechsports.com
The Titans could have used Allen's punting this week. This other punter they brought in this week was not good with a 17 yard punt from his own goal line. That is guaranteed points for your opponent.
I guess Allen is more expensive since he has 7.5 seasons in the NFL on his resume. He is still pretty young. You get what you pay for in some cases, and going cheap in the punting game hurt them last night. The Titans certainly aren't going cheap with place kicking with Gostkowski WHO IS KICKING 60% ON FG'S AND <93% ON XP'S. That is who should be out of a job.

I read an article that both allen and the other guy were on the roster, they just didn’t make Allen active. Bad decision

I think it could safely be argued that the 17-yd punt by Titans punter Trevor Daniel changed EVERYTHING in that game. The Titans were leading 17-13 with 4 min left in the 3rd QTR at the time. After the QB sack on 3rd down, the Titans needed a vintage Ryan Allen 60-yd punt that would "flip the field".......but instead got a 17-yarder from Daniel that most people on this board could out-kick. It was all down hill after that. Titans lost 34-17.

Totally agree on its impact of this game.

Interesting. If I'm Ryan Allen, my price to the Titans just went up. He's got 'em by the balls now, so they have to sign him.

He has already signed his Tennessee contract, 1 year for $1.05M. Since he signed mid-season he will make about $556k. I suspect he is a fill-in because their All-Pro punter is on IR. Ryan is trying out for other teams that might be looking for a punter next season. Bad timing for him in an era of declining salary cap.
