Re: 3 Bowl Options for Tech
With losing several bowls this year due to Covid, I don't see C-USA getting more than 5-6 teams in bowls.
Re: 3 Bowl Options for Tech
For ability to attend, Frisco on the 19th, for variety in opponent (I believe it been longer for us to play Houston than the other two) and ability to win the game, Frisco/New Mexico on the 24th. While I understand New Orleans is fun, and I did enjoy the game there against Ark St. Would it benefit us in any way to play in state and potentially lose to ULL? Recruits won't pay attention to the fact that this is probably their best team ever, or any other factors. If we get beat, and potentially thrashed, that's all that will show up on ESPN.
Also Skipper won't have his normal bowl prep time, so I am not expecting his normal bowl performance. Which honestly I would rather be his prep and performance year round, but I guess once a year is all he can muster.

Again, I don't see us playing ULL on a Wednesday after they play in SBC Championship on Saturday. But, that could work in our favor.
I think C-USA will make announcements very shortly after Saturdays games.
Re: 3 Bowl Options for Tech
I don't think it's in their best interest, but their coach was quoted the other days as saying it's still a possibility. I think the chance to beat us, does factor into some of their admins thinking, along with several other factors.
Re: 3 Bowl Options for Tech
The SBC only has one bowl tie in with a potential opponent better than CUSA and that's the camping world bowl against and AAC team. The rest of their options are CUSA and MAC if I remember right. Beating say Marshall at this point isn't going to boost the final rankings, so the chance to beat us might just rev their engines a bit.
Now they could get traded into a better bowl possibly, but I don't know enough about what that would take.

Who would that leave then? App State? Georgia Southern? Troy?
Be interesting (and good I guess, or would be in a normal year) to play 3 games in a row in DFW. Easy for the team, good to keep our name out there in the metroplex. Especially if we win them all!

As @LaTechReport stated online, Superdome has been limited to 3000 (for Saints games). I don't know what Frisco is, but I think I want to go there vs. SMU (Frisco) or Houston (New Mexico)
Re: 3 Bowl Options for Tech
Last I heard we are still at 50% here, so that would be 10,250 fans allowed. It may be less but I haven't been keeping up with it.

I think the Saints were allowed about 6000 for the last game or two, but with the recent changes in COVID numbers I am sure Her Majesty the Mayor will lower that number. Your point remains though more fan opportunity in Texas. I think Houston in the New Mexico Bowl is the best chance for a win, as Houston is the weakest opponent. Plus that gives us a slight bit longer prep time. Those two things seem to work best for Skip.

I opt for Houston. It's been a few years since we've played the Cougars (2012?), and we have H-H scheduled with SMU in next few years anyway.

2 road games in 4 days? That's insane! And incredibly dangerous for the players.

Update news this morning out of New Orleans.....
Mayor will allow 3,000 for New Orleans Bowl and Sugar Bowl. Capacity for the Superdome is 74,295. This equals roughly 4% capacity.
Re: 3 Bowl Options for Tech
I would rather NOT play SMU or ULL. As for opponents, Houston would be okay. I don't think we will have that much choice, though.
Re: 3 Bowl Options for Tech
Houston's program was in disarray before COVID, so they are by far the best option for a win. Plus as mentioned above the more time skip has to prep the better off we will be.
