Re: Mid January Review.....
When we are clicking, we are nearly unbeatable. We've got the talent.
Re: Mid January Review.....
I like our team. Driving to Ruston for my 4th game instead of watching it on TV. I should have bought season tickets.
Re: Mid January Review.....
We certainly have the ability to do this! Of course, it is just for seeding. If we have the ability, I would rather win the tournament for once... Both the regular season and tournament would be icing (and make the tournament a little easier - not much). Anyway, it all depends on if we are clicking or not. I have seen us play extremely well and very poor. Just hoping that if we get a big win streak, we will develop a lot of confidence for the tough match ups down the road.
Re: Mid January Review.....
We all know WINNING is contagious. IMO, now's the time for this Tech team to get accustom to winning. Every basketball game doesn't have to be a nail biter. I want to see the Dunkin Dawg's run thru the tape, and win at least 3 of these next 6 games by double digits. THAT'S what I want to see from Konkol and Company. It's very doable against these teams. That should build some confidence for this Tech team.

We need to do everything possible to win the regular season in the league. Don't count on a tournament that could easily be cancelled.

2/5 with an 8-2 record in CUSA. That series will probably dictate how the Dogs finish down the stretch. Stay healthy and win those two games in Denton, and Tech will be 10-2 in CUSA and very well positioned to finish the season #1 in the west. Lose both, and it may be game over.
I think we need to run the table on the next 6 games because they are all very winnable. I know playing in El Paso is always tough, but this team should simply be better than UTEP this year. So, win these 6 games, and that could set up a really special series when this team travels to Denton.

Mission accomplished this weekend. Congrats Dawgs! And I liked the fact that Tech played much better and more confident on Sat night vs Friday night. Remember, winning is contagious.
That's 2 down, and 4 to go.

Yes indeed. Great game by the dawgs! And the Lady Techsters found their mojo as well in the second game.

Furthermore, the Dogs also won a game against both of those opponents in each series. So....we are definitely competitive with the top of CUSA.

The Dunkin Dogs didn't run the table as hoped over the last 6 CUSA games, but they did finish 5-1. The result still sets up a good matchup this weekend at UNT. I don't like losing to UNT at anything. But we will have our hands full if we don't play better defense than Rice did this past weekend. UNT can score from almost anywhere on the floor if not defended well.
UNT comes into this weekend sporting a 5-1 record in CUSA, while Tech is 7-3. However, Tech has played a much tougher CUSA schedule than UNT has, and UNT has had 4 games cancelled (or "postponed") due to COVID. So, it's really difficult to judge how good UNT is. Or isn't.
Re: Mid January Review.....
Here are the remaining schedules for Tech, UAB, and UNT:
Feb 5-6--Tech at UNT, UTEP at UAB
Feb 12-13--UAB at Tech, UNT at Southern Miss
Feb 19-20--Tech at Middle Tennessee, ODU at UAB, WKU at UNT
Feb 26-27--Rice at Tech, UNT at Marshall, UAB at UTSA
Mar 5-6 (likely makeup)--UNT at UAB

our defense has been very good overall, but you are correct about UNT. Their record is good, but the schedule is suspect. same could b said about UAB. it is go time in the next two weeks.
Re: Mid January Review.....
North Texas plays with more confidence at home (as evident by their record and the recent series with Rice). We all know defense travels. Our team is so streaky on offense. We can play good and bad for stretches of the same game, even same half of a game.
