Good Lord! just how many does it take to run a basketball team? Should hire a couple more. Need a manager to wash the balls...

Exactly. I want to know when we are going to get some new COMMITS from players. I don't give a crap about who the "video coordinator" is. Priorities people, priorities.

I think the commits will come - no need to be in a big hurry. Better to get players who will help you instead of just grabbing folks quickly. There probably isn't much to choose from among the high school ranks at this late date - unless you can get some to change prior commitments. If it were me, I'd look at the folks in the transfer portal and JUCO ranks for next year.

Guess you havent seen LSU new staff or a P5 staff. I was told he asked for less money for the asst coaches so he could beef up his staff.

There are over 1100 players in the TPot so he will have a lot to choose from.

It really has gotten ridiculous. This coach is in charge of making sure they come to practice. This one makes sure they actually practice. This one ensures they go to class. This one makes sure they actually learn something. This one designs the weight room routine, but another one implements it. No way any of them actually have a full time job.

We currently have 2 open spots (signees that followed Konkol to Tulsa), plus Junior makes 3. No other players have announced they are entering the portal. We can look to the portal to find a BIG or find some HS players.

Of course, since the big boys do it, it's okay. Athletics, in general, has gotten out of control. Waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much money is wasted on it.
It's actually quite simple, treat it all like a business. Give each program a PROFIT target they have to reach. Their expense (operating) budget and their capital budget (facilities, etc..) are determined and the head coach must decide how best to allocate it. Ticket sales, merchandising, TV revenue, etc...all go into the revenue side against the expense side. Have a net income or we'll find someone who can.
Actually, to be fair, it's not just athletics. Universities as a whole are dinosaurs and need to be phased out in favor of technical "colleges" geared toward training a workforce. But, that is best discussed on the Political Forum.

Yet he received a $500,000 per year contract, the same as the previous coach with 7 years of head coaching experience at Tech. Maybe we offered him $600,000 per year and he declined.
