Giving Day 2022...EPIC FAILURE

Today is allegedly Giving Day 2022. There are no links, pop-ups, no anything on any Tech site directing a potential donor to this event. Aside from a couple of reminder emails more than a week ago, I got little more than a TikTok video from the Director of Giving yesterday...no links, no calendar links...no anything.

I believe I've stepped up every year this event has been in place, but I probably won't this year. Why? I refuse to give passing grades (which contributions would do) to what I perceive to be an EPIC failure! We hire multitudes of people to do jobs that in some instances don't need to be done, while hiring other people for jobs they are woefully unprepared to do. In short, a for-profit business could never survive doing what Tech does.

Wow.

I know the arguments everyone has for why not giving is bad. However, I refuse to reward and reinforce poor performance and practices any longer. I will buy my individual tickets here and there etc., but until they show me they can run a business (it is a business) then they will be out of luck for anything larger.

This giving day is mainly for academics, but you can direct your $ to any area

I just got a text about it.

Me too...they did a terrible job reaching out to people 50 and older.

I know, the sad part is I used to give to academics, athletics, special project requests, and tickets. Now they get tickets when a game has my interest or anytime my father wants to go. I now have a scholarship set up through the school districts education foundation and that priority is any Frisco ISD senior planning to attend Tech. In five years we have given it to only one student going to TECH, we graduate over 5,000 seniors a year. It is what it is until they show they can truly handle their business.

I don't use services like PayPal, got burned by them in a scam and....forget it. If I can enter my credit card info in, okay, but otherwise, ain't happening.

First communication was last night.

In 2021, I gave $1250 on Giving Day...the outreach efforts (other than social media apparently) sucked.

I have been getting notices in my email and have seen it on Twitter for at least 2 weeks. Will always give something back to the school that gave me so much.

They say they got over a million today.
