Both defenses are horrible.
Total defense
Tech 120th 454.8 ypg
NT 122nd 462.3 ypg
Scoring defense
NT 120th 36.33 ppg
Tech 123rd 37.2 ppg
Their offense has performed better so far, but against much easier opponents.
Total Offense
NT 19th 476.0 ppg
Tech 87th 373.0 ypg
Scoring offense
NT 38th 34.3 ppg
Tech 69th 30.2 ppg 100 more ypg, but only 4 more ppg.
Their offense is pretty balanced. 262 yards passing and 214 yards rushing per game. Rushing is pretty much per committee. Their best back Oscar Adaway missed last season due to injury. He might have a big day against our defense. Their QB (Austin Anue) is starting for pretty much his third season. He is 99 for 176, 56.25%, 1496 yards, 15 td's, 7 ints. Nothing special.
The good news is they turn the ball over too. 12 turnovers to our 15.
This game, like the last one, will come down to who makes fewer mistakes. Like us their coach is no great stuff either. Vegas sees no defense in this one as the over/under is 70.5.
If we win the turnover battle and Cumbie doesn't blow it, we should be in it at the end. Two big if's I know, but that is going to be the case the rest of the season.
They have beaten UTEP (horrible), Texas Southern (horrible), and FAU. With loses to SMU, Memphis and UNLV. The loss to UNLV gives me some hope, as they are not a very good team.
