I think the LSU money game next year is why it got moved.

I think Wood saw what a bad deal the NC State series was for us and would have taken ANY real money game to replace it just to keep our meager budget somewhat in tact. The Baylor deal was just as bad and we squirmed out of that one.
Re: 2024 Football Schedule
I don't mind the occasional 2-for-1. It is our best chance to ever host a P5 school. But they do mess up our rotation of $ game, FCS game, home G5, away G5. And they are discounted to the other school by definition.
It is hard to believe we will ever actually get the home game out of this one. That's waaaaay out there.

You can count the number of successful 2 for 1s we've had on one hand. Having the 3rd game in the series in Ruston or even Shreveport never works out.
McClelland screwed up our home game with Army by moving it to Dallas...this after the success we had when we played Navy in Ruston. He was such a turd.

Football vs Navy on 9/18/2010 - Box Score - LA Tech Athletics (latechsports.com) We had 23,000 (tickets sold) for Navy.
31000 at Cotton Bowl Football vs Army on 9/28/2013 - Box Score - LA Tech Athletics (latechsports.com)
Does anyone know how much we got paid? Seems like 23,000 in Ruston is better than 31K in Dallas.

I can't imagine we've done enough of them to count on much more than one hand either way. I agree that when/if we're going to do these, we need to push for the Ruston/Shreveport game to be game 1 or 2, not 3. And that they should be treated as priority games - I still wonder why the heck we moved the MSU game so that both Tech and MSU could go to UMass of all places? What was the point of that? Just trying to make our schedule easier maybe? But why would MSU agree? So weird. I am really scared we're about to be sharing a conference with the Minutemen, although I just can't see why CUSA would want to.

That's a big difference in game experience/feel (I guess part of the pitch would have been the overall experience of the Texas State fair and all).
Re: 2024 Football Schedule
Army was a TMac decision in attempt to appease Metroplex and surrounding Texas area fans. He figured Shreveport fans would show. Closer to 10k than 30k. It was raining almost the entire game…that was the excuse. It was our home game so we probably had some kind of TMac deal with the venue. It’s likely that we paid the venue (ticket sales)and had to eat our expenses

That game was a miserable experience! Constant weather delays and only sold Miller Light :furious3:
Re: 2024 Football Schedule
The game experience sucked cause Tech played to defend the pass against a 98% run-oriented team.

Anyone got a strong preference on who we want to miss?
Given our record the last few years, I think I would rather miss a stronger team like Liberty or WKU.
Past that I do not care one way or the other about playing any other team in CUSA.
