Omaha...the College World Series
Four teams from the SEC vs. four from the ACC. This is where we are heading in all sports, only the power mega conferences will be able to reach the finals. Oh well...
As for this year, the finals will be Florida State vs. N C State, and all-ACC final. I think this is FSU's 24th appearance in Omaha and they have never won it all. And N. C. State got shafted by that stupid Covid BS in 2021, so I figure they are both due. But really, who knows? Put their names in a hat and draw out a name from each bracket. Just as likely to get it right doing that.
But, I will watch some of it.
Re: Omaha...the College World Series
Would moving regionals and super regionals to a neutral site yield different results?

Nope
Baseball is the least tilted playing field of all the college sports
I like the regional and super reginal set up
I'm also intrigued by the A&M coach's proposal to make Regionals best 2 of 3 and extend the postseason by two additional weeks (makes a lot of sense given the fact you play 3 game series all season long)
Re: Omaha...the College World Series
I went last year. I think I was the only sober guy in town.
(I slurped on my two jello shots! ;-)
Omaha Zoo-->wow.
CWS atmosphere--> more wow.
My boy and Josh Pearson played outfield at West Monroe together. Sitting in left field, at one of the few quiet moments, CP yelled out, "ATC" (their nickhame for their WM outfield: Air Traffic Control).
Pearson turned his head, made a quick grin and turned back towards homeplate.
Re: Omaha...the College World Series
Wow! three games, three walk-offs. Next up Florida-aTm. Let's make it 4 for 4 on walk-offs.
Re: Omaha...the College World Series
Well...the cream rises to the top. The SEC smoked the ACC a perfect 5-0 and it will be, again, an all-SEC final. I tried to send the ACC some positive vibes, but the reality is the SEC is the #1 conference. Period, end of story.

I thought this was the year UNC or FSU would break the run...
There is no doubt that the Vols and A&M have been beasts all year long and are really flexing their muscles in Omaha
Kinda of pulling for A&M because everyone else bascially despises them...

Not as much as I despise Tennessee.

Didn’t really matter to me, SEC is the SEC. Now next year they get two more solid baseball programs in Texas and OU. The SEC will probably win it again
Re: Omaha...the College World Series
Losing a great coach to Texas is the ultimate blow to the over spending Aggies
Re: Omaha...the College World Series
Right now the SEC is working to influence next year’s selection committee that all the SEC teams should be given automatic invitations like their softball teams got this year. From week one of the SEC season with all their home games every team is padding their win loss records through their ridiculously heavy home game schedules. The SEC is a racket as well run as any organized crime syndicate.

This is what they were doing in football not many years ago. Eight $EC home games was the norm before the china virus. Now losing 2 games kicks them out of the running for a NC which serves them right. Saban stepping down and his opinion of the current state of their game says it all about what the TV peeps and NCAA have done to the sport(s).

I work for UT, and we have a huge all-day festival planned for June 30th with all the SEC brass here for joining day (technically July 1st). They have brought in Pitbull for a huge concert at the end of the night fireworks off the tower etc., but all anyone has talked about today was stealing A&M's coach less than 24 hours after the CWS final when he said he came to A&M and planned to never leave.
Took the best coach, at your biggest rival, less than 24 hours after they played in their first major sport championship in forever, on the eve of joining the conference after A&M had finally gotten away from Texas, and then the rivalry kicks back off. The stuff on social media has been brutal too.
