Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. South Alabama Weekend Series
Why is Tech playing Friday games at 4:00? Plenty of people don’t even get off work till 5:00. It sure seems like a challenge for Tech to do fan friendly things.
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. South Alabama Weekend Series
Heavy rains had been forecast for tonight, although I think that has changed, probably we’re trying to beat it
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. South Alabama Weekend Series
I think most of our weekday and Friday games have been early this season. Trying to beat weather every time?
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. South Alabama Weekend Series
The circus started when Burroughs got too smart for his own good and changed his infield. Why not leave well enough alone and win with what was working?

The Dawgs were not focused tonight, especially in the late innings. A couple of those so-called infield hits should have been ruled as a big, fat ERROR. Then there were those worm-killers that our infield usually gobble up and make outs. I think they lost focus and simply did not play up to their standards. Hopefully they'll realize that and come out tomorrow breathing fire.
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. South Alabama Weekend Series
Saturday’s game was a continuation of Friday night’s 9th inning with SA doing pretty much everything right and Tech essentially doing nothing, not nothing right, just nothing. When you can’t really hit balls out of the park, why try. The Dawgs looked totally lost at the plate today. I really don’t understand what Burroughs is doing with his player rotations. Why sub out guys who are beginning to make contributions to put in guys who haven’t played. It makes no sense. He doesn’t seem to be making decisions to build on momentum as much as it is deflating players’ optimism.
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. South Alabama Weekend Series
With the team needing all the help it can get getting hits its extremely disappointing to see Safford still taking up a spot in the lineup. At .167 he has to be one of the worst at his position in the country. If this is the best decision making that Burroughs can do we’re in deep trouble.
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. South Alabama Weekend Series
Yesterday in a desperate situation of trying to get a 9th inning rally going Burroughs sent Netterville and Drost to the plate. So much for developing future players with some possible potential.
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. South Alabama Weekend Series
Since we led 6-0 on Friday, we have been outscored 21-0. Got 9 outs left as I type this to...well, score a run. We suck.
Re: Preview: LA Tech vs. South Alabama Weekend Series
Burroughs is getting too much wrong. He’s been doing this for years, but enough is enough. Fouts isn’t a pitching coach and shouldn’t be at Tech. He should’ve been gone two years ago. Even his pitch calling is bad. He calls for way too many off the plate pitches when our pitchers are ahead in the count. Then we get to 2-2 or 3-2 counts and give up hits or walks after their batters see too many pitches. Fouts is playing pitch location games with our pitchers and it’s killing us. We’re wasting our arms. Our hitting is worse this year, so evidently our hitting coach shouldn’t be at Tech either. We fly out ridiculously way too often, can’t protect the plate and are really bad at getting clutch hits when we’re behind in games. Ballard and Comeaux are not as good hitters as they were last year which sucks because now we don’t have any batting leadership. As far as player leadership goes I’m not sure Tech as any. How about somebody put some muscle on our players. We need some strength throughout the team. It shouldn’t come as any surprise to say that Safford shouldn’t be playing at all. He’s proven that for 2 years already. He can’t hit, has a bad arm and is often out of position defensively. I get the impression that he actually plays out of position on purpose, so he won’t have to make an athletic play. Coates should be playing at SS. Hawsey should be at 1st. If we’re going to have a lesser hitter play then have it be him or someone else who is developmentally worth it. Quit wasting a spot on Safford. Patterson shouldn’t be leading off, since he’s one of our 2-3 power hitters. It’s a waste leading him off when our #9 batter rarely gets on base. Houston should be DHing with Mexico for developmental purposes and no one else. When Houston catches then Berch should DH. It’s way past time for Burroughs to be playing guessing games with his program and team, we’re only getting worse.

We scored, yay! Lost 8-2, but we weren't shutout. (have to pick your victories with this bunch)
