Cajuns respond to ESPN article
I admit I troll their board looking for Tech posts. There is one on there now regarding the ESPN article. Their Tech envy/hatred is incredible. I don't post or respond because I probably couldn't do it by just giving facts dealing with our progress, I'd probably get into a pissing match with them. I don't want to do it on their board, but if anyone else is willing go to www.raginpagin.com .

Re: Cajuns respond to ESPN article
They'll ban you if you post.
They are very insecure and secretly jealous. Deep down, they know we're better and they despise us for their own shortcomings.
Re: Cajuns respond to ESPN article
You know, i read through some of those posts. I gotta say that there seem to be some folks over there at ULL who do get it.
It is really getting difficult to deny that we have made vast improvements in a very short time.

_ I don't think that there is a doubt that Tech and UL are both trying as hard as can be to get into CUSA--We have tried since its inception--Even thought we were in and got screwed by Tulane and Dr. A according to Mr. Bud----They will revamp and we need to be ready to be more desirable than Tech---I would love to see a comparison of which schools offer the best to a conference!!!! I just don't see Tech over us--except in football wins!!!! _
Football is what really matters. Tech is doing everything they can to improve themselves. We are less attractive to CUSA now then when they formed way back when. I don't see us getting any more pretty in the up coming years.
Re: Cajuns respond to ESPN article
They do make alot of good points especially comparing Laffy to Ruston. they SHOULD have more advantages. But should and actually doing are two different things..... that school stinks of jealousy! TECH finally has someone who knows to make money you got to spend some money, rattle some cages and sometimes you got to piss some people off to get the job done. If this ship keeps heading the way it looks Tech will be the #2 school in the state no questions ask for a long time to come. I also love the "we have as much tradition as they do". I'll raise your Jake the Snake with Terry Bradshaw...Or your Brian Mitchell to Willie Roaf. And how many bowls have they won? hell or been in? Besides the classic they played with Mcneese a few years ago.
Re: Cajuns respond to ESPN article
They are eaten up with jealousy. I love it.
Re: Cajuns respond to ESPN article
That is a school I would love to see a rivalry renewed with. There was a time I thought Cajun field was nicer then ours but not anymore. JAS will far surpass theirs in the coming years. they are planning some renovations but it is to just add more seats which is a thing of the past in my opinion. Smaller and nicer is the way to go. ie SMU. Having a stadium that can actually fill up will enhance the gameday experience more than bowling in an empty stadium. There marketing people are horrible as well and thank god they are in the Belt because it is holding them back tremendously, especially with recruiting. Lafayette is a better market then Ruston but they don't have the forward vision to do anything with it and we should be lucky they don't.

Why are they adding more seats? I watched one of their games on gameplan last year and they didn't have 5000 people in attendance.
Re: Cajuns respond to ESPN article
ULL is their own worse enemy when it comes to progress. When they beat A&M, they were poised to move ahead of us permenatly, but they feel back yet again. It all has allot to do with the SunBelt and the lack of any one of those teams stepping up. I will admit though, they are one of the four schools in our state that should be playing FBS (Div 1), especially being located in a nice town like Lafayette. The others (read a team in Monroe) all need to either be FBS or lower.

Re: Cajuns respond to ESPN article
It has to do with the lspoo lust down here imo....
why cheer for a team like UL when you can drive an hour down the road for the "flagship"? UL will never be as successful as us because they are an hour away from the red stick therefore they cannot get the support and major backing that they need from ANYONE. Except maybe the fifteen people on their boards.
Tech is far enough away that if we win and market ourselves to the correct people (which we are doing... btw :D ) we can be successful.
Re: Cajuns respond to ESPN article
These guys are really on the Koolaid aren't they. Just got through reading their board.
Re: Cajuns respond to ESPN article
I've about decided that this "market" advantage that everybody has over us is bull. If it were true, USM would be dead last in CUSA every year. Who'd be #1? Not sure, but Rice and SMU would have some mighty battles. UAB would be one of the powers in the east.
In the WAC, SJSU should mop the floor with everyone...Oh, and Vandy should be one of the best teams in the SEC.

That about sums it up. Sucks to be them.
Re: Cajuns respond to ESPN article
if ULL had more fans like rcajun90, they'd go somewhere. That guy gets it.
This reminds me a lot of our board during the Bicknell years.

I wouldnt say that Troy has become a very very good team recently but nobody else has really stepped up. Going to see what happens at Western KY and South Alabama.
Re: Cajuns respond to ESPN article
That is the thing I don't get. Before Dooley most of us weren't under the impression that we were selling some great product. We all knew why we got passed over by UTEP, a move now that if CUSA had to do over again wouldn't. We were all displeased with our coaches and our facilities and then something was done about it. ULL doesn't have the vision. Bowling in a stadium and seating more is not going to put butts in the seats.Firing those coaches and getting in a better conference would put them way ahead of us. It's hard to sell the belt to some recruits. Troy is the only program pulling recruits in that conference that are decent.
