Players in the NFL by State

"The most impressive showing is by Louisiana, which ranked 25th in total population but has the sixth-most high school players in the NFL. The Pelican State has the highest per-capita rate of NFL players (1 in 65,720) followed by Mississippi (1 in 76,883) and Hawaii (1 in 80,769). By comparison, California's rate is 1 in 175,163."
The most players in the NFL per-capita. We must recruit our own state better and then DEVELOP the talent.
Re: Players in the NFL by State
You would think with statistics like this, we could find at least one (1) damn QB in this state.

That "other Louisiana state university" seems to have that argument. They have Crowton as OC, "super dude/studly" recruits at QB, and they have a winning record but the "poorple and ghoul" are booing them off the field. Go figger.

Sorry to turn the conversation to lsu but I heard a clip of Miles this morning on the radio actually calling out the lsu "fans" on booing the team. He said something to the effect of "I don't think they realize the image they protray when they act like that". I really do think that this is the negative effect of all of those bandwaggon fans out there. lsu is 4-0 and has beaten two top 25 teams this year and the fans are booing them off the field. I'm a big fan of Leslie being the coach down there but he definately earned himself some real brownie points in my book for being honest and calling out the "fans" on their behavior.
Re: Players in the NFL by State
Frank Broyles said many, many, years ago that Louisiana would continue to turn out more than our share of good football players as long as our high schools had spring practice and state championship games.

Unfortunately we also have the most Division I athletic programs per capita in the country.
Per capita stats can be misleading; numbers-wise there are still a lot more quality players in states like Texas, Florida, and California, Texas being the one we should be most concerned with.
Re: Players in the NFL by State
As far as recruiting goes, if you can't recruit Texas you've got no shot at building a winning team.
