Thoughts and Prayers for neighbor
One of my neighbors (Peter) passed away last night from I believe to be a heart attack (at age 42, wow). One of the nicest guys I have ever met and a Louisiana guy. He left behind a wife and two adopted daughters (one from China-7 years old and one from Afghanistan-3 years old). Talked to the wife this morning, and she was in shock, saying she didnt know what happened. But, we saw the ambulance come over at 230 this morning and they were giving him CPR and shocks, leading us to believe it was some sort of heart issue.
My wife jsut had a baby shower and Ila the wife was supposed to go on Sunday, and I was going to watch the Saints game with Peter, her husband. Well, we never heard from either one of them, and she didnt go to the shower and Peter never came out of the house the whole day (unusual for him, especially since he invited me to come over and watch the game last week). I am wondering if he hasnt been feeling well. Anyway, please keep them in your prayers, especially those daughters, they have already been through a lot as is.

Man, that is a tough story. Prayers coming for the family and for you dhussdawg, since losing a friend and neighbor is traumatic as well.

You are right man. I didnt think it would affect me this much. I didnt know Peter that well, but I always struck up good conversation when I saw him, and we had been to each other's house a few times and other neighborly things. He was a great guy, and he absolutely loved our bulldog Tug. You start thinking about his family and how hard it will be for them, and it make you pause. I cant stop thinking about it today. It does help to talk to people. It gives meaning to the phrase "hits close to home" when someone dies that lives right across the street from you, especially a man in his early forties.

Hate it for you Huss. I pray that God will use you in this situation. This verse jumped out at me as I read your post-James 1:27: 27Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this A) to visit(B) orphans and widows in their affliction, and(C) to keep oneself(D) unstained from the world.
You're the man for the job. I'm praying for you man.

Well, we are off to a good start, we offered to cook them a meal one night just like a good Baptist. We definitely told her to let us know if she needed help with the kiddos. Luckily, they are really good friends with our next door neighbor who has a young daugher herself. Hopefully, we can all pitch in and help her through this rough time.

Not meant in any way to hijack such a serious and emotional thread, but I thought a little humor may add a little levity to a sad situation:
My neighbor the other day told me he had been trying to catch an armadillo that had been tearing up his yard. He baited the trap with soured corn to no avail. He then tried a slice of bologna, to no avail. Then he tried a piece of fried chicken......he caught a Baptist preacher!
