It is still showing 6:00 on latechsport.com if that means anything. Doesn't matter to me. I'll be streaming online in my recliner unless a Portland station carries it.

So, if kickoff for the SU game is 1:30 pm will there still be fireworks after the game?

Will there be anyone at the game since everyone thinks it is at 6.

I usually like to watch the game on the big screen at my favorite Mexican restaurant in Salem. Hope there are no screw ups on the broadcast.

Not locally - what is your cable or satellite provider? If you have a sports pack, you should be able to get at least one Regional Sports channel that has the game (most likely CSN Chicago).

If you put your zip code on the above link, it will tell you if there are ASN affiliates in your area.

Heard on the radio Southern only requested 1k tickets so that was a little disappointing. I was almost certain this game would sell out, but not sure that is the case now.

I plan to get to Los Arcos Mexican Restaurant in Salem, OR early for the game in case there is a rush of SU fans who want to watch the game. If you are going to attend the game in person, I suggest you do the same.
Statboy, do you know any SU fans in this area who might be interested in a good margarita they can cry in.

As I have said many times before, no fewer than 8000 SU fans in JAS come September 5, 2015.

That's exactly right. Most of these clowns are forgetting that LA Tech has about 24K to 25K of its own fans who will be there for the season opener. And there could be even more Tech fans in attendance this year to see the grand opening of the new Davidson Athletic Center. There MIGHT be room left over for 3K visiting fans from SU. Maybe.....

Let me explain sumthin to you podnuh. We don't except any game out of our division that gives us less than 5,000 ticket unless it's a guarantee of at least $500k, and we all know that AIN'T a bill you can pay.
Let's not kid ourselves, there one reason and one reason only that LaTech invited us to JAS.
To do something that not even a CUSA school or even a BCS schools has done. Have a record breaking sellout at JAS.

I'm hoping we can rest our starters in the 2nd half for the quick turn around Thursday night game against WKU. I could care less if we beat them by 14 or 35
-
Re: Someone Has Finally Listened - Southern Univeristy Coming to Ruston in 2015
I will say that we should be ashamed of ourselves if we don't sell out. We have NEVER sold out, and now we have fewer seats.. This is the best Tech team in my lifetime (born 1992) and its Driskel's first game. You'd think some local SEC fans will come just to see him.. We are coming off an 8 win season and a bowl win and also picked to top our division this year by the coaches..Combine that with an opponent that will bring plenty of fans and anything under a sellout shows that our brand isn't where it needs to be.
This game needs to be SRO or it proves that people in north Louisiana aren't paying attention to us.. Facts only

Re: Someone Has Finally Listened - Southern Univeristy Coming to Ruston in 2015
Can anyone produce contracts from other games Southern has played against G5 opponents in which they were guaranteed 5000 seats or a half mil? I know I can't, but would love to see what makes you so sure that Tech did the same? Can anyone produce the contract between Tech and Southern? Again, I can't, but obviously someone here knows exactly what the arrangement is. Just produce the evidence so we can all stop posting the feedback we are all getting from our inside sources.
Got confirmation again that about 3000 tickets total have gone to Southern fans. You now have 2 weeks to purchase 5000 more to get to the boasted 8000. Produce the documents and prove me wrong.

No....again we got at least 5,000 ticket, regardless of what your sources said.
The other alternative would have been to pay around $225,000 and give 2,000 tickets and we keep the profits from our ticket sales.

I'm sure you do and that's all fine and dandy, but it doesn't mean your sources are correct. This ain't our first rodeo, we know our brand and what it's worth and we don't have to accept less.

I found:
SWAC Championship, Dec 6th = 39,500
Heart of Dallas, Dec 26th, 1:00 = 31,300
Give me a break with all this "we set the rules because of our Brand".

All this pregame banter is good healthy fun.
My prediction:
If we are prepared for the Jags, don't take them lightly, and protect the football:
Halftime: Tech 31 Jags 3
Starters rest the 2nd half
Final: Tech 58 Jags 13

Right, they're going to pay each school in the neighborhood of a million dollars each to share stories and bar-b-que. If they're lucky WE might show them how to do it cajun style.

What you were looking at its a PROJECTION by the MEAC conference as to how they will splits their share. That's not written in stone and it certainly has nothing to do with how the SWAC splits its share.
Let me put it to you this way. Does the Sunbelt tells CUSA how to spin their money?

You also linked a projection when you tried to compare the HofD payout.
So, what do you think the SWAC participant will get paid? You posted that each school gets $1million.

No I did not link a projection. That's was a report on last year's payout for the HOD Bowl. If you had looked above the reported payouts, you would have notice links attach to each previous year and the projection for the coming year. Which happens to match what you posted.
No I didn't post that the payout was a million, I said in the neighborhood of a million. Because until the final ticket receipts are registered, there's no way of knowing for sure. It could actually be more.

This game will definitely be a sellout. It appears most SU fans are purchasing their tickets directly from Tech or through Ticketmaster or some other outlet. My organization bought our tickets directly from Tech. With SU-affiliated organizations buying tickets from sources other than SU, it would be impossible to know, at this point, just how many SU fans have actually purchased tickets. There is no doubt in my mind that thousands of tickets already sold byTech have been sold to SU fans. We most likely will not know actual SU numbers until gameday. But I know so well that the "gold and blue" will be well represented, as usual! Even if the game sells out leaving many stranded at the gate, no fewer than 8000 SU fans will make their way to your campus. WHEN YOU TECH GUYS COME TO THE REALIZATION THAT MY PREDICTION AND THE PREDICTIONS OF OTHERS ARE COMING TRUE, YOU GUYS WILL OWE ME A TAILGATE INVITE!

I can accept the prediction that 8000 SU fans will be scattered across Ruston and N. Louisiana Labor Day Weekend. I would never argue that. You know how many of your fans travel on a given weekend to away games regardless of whether they plan to buy tickets or if walk up tickets are even available. That comradery is commendable for sure.

I don't doubt the attendance predictions with 23k Tech fans and the rest Southern fans for a sell-out. But what is your prediction on the actual Game?
Bulldogs 45
Southern 21
With starters being sat halfway through the 3rd quarter and Southern scoring 2 touchdowns in the 4th quarter

No I didn't post that the payout was a million, I said in the neighborhood of a million. Because until the final ticket receipts are registered, there's no way of knowing for sure. It could actually be more.
You're right. vlw posted that. Sorry.

I not surprised. They normally have to do a FOI to get anything out of those folks. But at the end of the day it'll end up being reported same as the others. (The bowl payout)
I doubt if many of you actually know your conference split.

Not "scattered across Ruston and N. Louisiana," but on the La Tech campus in the area of JAS. If need be, we'll take the hillside under the scoreboard! We will be there in force and Ruston will never be the same again! No fewer than 8000 SUers on the La Tech campus!

Okay okay. In Ruston, on Tech campus. Not trying to nit pick. Crowd on the hill has not been discussed to my knowledge. I imagine it would pose major problems for traffic control around the end zone. Also would present problems for the band/bands to navigate that area to prepare for halftime.

I hope you aren't referring to the old south end of the Joe where we used to have a hill and scoreboard. That hill doesn't exist anymore. The old south end zone first picture pic then what replaced it.

Re: Someone Has Finally Listened - Southern Univeristy Coming to Ruston in 2015
You're hating on our bowl game when southern doesn't even play in the actual FCS playoffs, but a separate one?
You're trying to boast attendance when you averaged 15,400 per game last year?
You're acting like you know we are wrong when we are predicting scores that favor Tech over SU, yet you won't give a prediction yourself.
You don't have our athletes or our coaching--facts--Alcorn State beat you by 40. Lafayette beat you by 39. How is a 4TD tech advantage laughable? We drummed ULL and would Alcorn state as well

Hardly conclusive since no other team has Tech's athletes or Techs coaches.

I dont know about that. There is ample room and only problem I see is restroom facilities but that could be solved with some porties. Temporary concession stand, etc would be easily solved with a canopy or two thus you will not see people turned away if the demand is there. If you start seeing these temporary adjustments being made then you will know a crowd is on the way, otherwise will probably compare with the NW game last year.

Re: Someone Has Finally Listened - Southern Univeristy Coming to Ruston in 2015
If it's any consolation Statboy, Southern will not be the only team the Bulldogs make look like they suck this year!
I am hoping you have a great season, but it will have to start after you play on Sept. the 5th!

Re: Someone Has Finally Listened - Southern Univeristy Coming to Ruston in 2015
When we scheduled this game, I was happy and wanted to win by 4-5 TD's. Thanks to statbitch, I want to put 80 on them.
