DeBlasio doesn’t have a CIA, CDC and NIH reporting to him. Federal leadership has been AWOL.

Nope it's the state and local governments that weren't prepared to lead. Likewise again I say, it was Bush after 9-11 (8 years) and Obama after 9-11 followup , ISIS threats, illegal aliens crossing the borders with who knows what diseases and H1N1 (8 years) that didn't have the Feds prepared. Not a 38 month President Trump. Period!
I still can not believe that Obama didn’t see all this coming 4 years ago and do whatever he had to to mitigate the effect of the virus on people the world over and the world economy. Major fail by Obama.
If we expect clairvoyance from Trump, then we should expect it from not only Obama, but every other leader that preceded him or even others in our government. Why did’t Bush know he had bad intel on WMD’s? Why didn’t Hillary know that our embassy would be attacked and she should have moved those people days before the event?
This is an entirely stupid exercise due to the FACT that we don’t have all the information. Not even our leaders have all the information all the time. However, hands down, the Trump Admin has handled this situation with the info provided better than anything in the 8 years that preceded them. And better than much of what GWB dealt with as well.
Anyone who claims to know better should do 2 things. Run for office and buy a powerball ticket. Surely, you will know well beforehand what the election results will be and what the winning numbers will be.
You get Post of the Day with this one above...good job!
But then, you KNEW you were gonna get the nod with your clairvoyance...
Didn’t have to be clairvoyant to see this one coming. Just had to take it more seriously and not rest on your laurels after restricting travel from global hotspots.
You obviously haven’t been paying attention. Remember, you were convinced this couldn’t happen here not that long ago.
https://news.wbfo.org/post/schumer-s...at-coronavirus
I was convinced what you described could not happen here. So far it (shortage of ICU beds) may or may not be happening in New York or New Orleans. What I said then is still happening now. Those who are already sick are the ones dying.
March 11 Schumer was bitching about Trump. That's daily with him. Your timeline needed something done a hell of a lot sooner than March 11 when Capt Obvious Schumer began his rant. Where were all your experts between the travel bans and the 2nd week in March? Oh yeah, they were bitching about the travel bans.
What were you and your liberal buddies doing when the first US case was reported in mid January? Two weeks later the travel ban happened when it became obvious China was lying AND holding back information. Your liberal friends were raising hell about that instead of confronting Trump on the Monday morning QB stuff you hit him with two months later.

Taking a stroll down memory lane just shows how out of touch Trump was with everyone else on COVID 19.
It was popular water cooler talk at work about what was going on in China through January, and continued to be as it spread to other countries. The first reported community spread case in the US didn’t happen until late February. Once we knew it was outside of China, it was the consensus among all that I talked to that it was coming here.
I don’t really start threads around here that much anymore, so I commented soon after the first one was created (while you were still in denial thanks in large part to Trump’s cavalier attitude about it). That was in February, I think.
Facts...
Trump issued a travel ban on Jan 31.
Director of WHO said travel bans are unnecessary on Feb 4
Some Dems echoed that and criticized Trump for the bans on Feb 5
This is from February 2
Democrats criticized the White House announcement that the United States will add six more countries to a controversial travel ban that originally was called a “Muslim ban” by the left, and that Joe Biden on Saturday called a new “African Ban.”House Speaker Nancy Pelosi led the charge in opposition to the travel ban expansion, describing it as “discrimination disguised as policy.”“The Trump administration’s expansion of its outrageous, un-American travel ban threatens our security, our values and the rule of law,” her statement reads. “The sweeping rule, barring more than 350 million individuals from predominantly African nations from traveling to the United States, is discrimination disguised as policy.”To no one’s surprise, she added that Democrats will do all in their power to resist the president. “In the Congress and in the Courts, House Democrats will continue to oppose the Administration’s dangerous anti-immigrant agenda. In the coming weeks, the House Judiciary Committee will mark-up and bring to the Floor the NO BAN Act to prohibit religious discrimination in our immigration system and limit the President’s ability to impose such biased and bigoted restrictions.”On Friday, Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf told reporters that after a “systematic review” of all countries, six nations were added to the travel ban list: Burma, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, Sudan, and Tanzania.
February 5
As we said, three experts called by Democrats at a House subcommittee hearing on Feb. 5 questioned the decision. Dr. Jennifer Nuzzo, a senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, was one of them.
Nuzzo, Feb. 5: [W]e need to seriously reexamine the current policy of banning travel from China and quarantining returning travelers. All of the evidence we have indicates that travel restrictions and quarantines directed at individual countries are unlikely to keep the virus out of our borders. These measures may exacerbate the epidemic’s social and economic tolls and can make us less safe. Simply put, this virus is spreading too quickly and too silently, and our surveillance is too limited for us to truly know which countries have active transmission and which don’t. The virus could enter the U.S. from other parts of the world not on our restricted list, and it may already be circulating here.
On January 27 Pelosi said Dems would fight any travel bans imposed by Trump.
https://dailycaller.com/2020/01/27/nancy-pelosi-block-trump-travel-ban/
On January 31, 2020, the same day he placed travel restrictions on China, he also expanded his Muslim ban to new countries — Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, Myanmar, Nigeria, Sudan, and Tanzania.
I know it is hard to keep up with the many different Trump travel bans, but please do try.

Whatever they accuse Trump of doing, they have been doing even longer.
Dems- “Yes, we support this bill reducing regulation on small business development. However, another important aspect of this bill is the protection of the Asian Water Monitor in Thailand.”
No, this is not a real example, but it’s not an exaggeration in the least.
It is possible...and I hope this happens...that the stringent mitigation procedures employed will change the projected rate. It should, in theory. I mean there has been concerted effort to flatten the curve, so hopefully the projections based on pre-social distancing (and other measures) are not now the true path. We'll soon see!
I support TIGHT, monitored travel controls, and in some cases bans, for other reasons beyond just contagious diseases.
As for this circumstance, I think we'll see another change at points of entry, with airports being the primary places. Saw on FOX that Singapore has installed infrared scanners that scan an arriving flight as people are just getting off the plane. There are agents watching a monitor and if any passenger displays a "hot" spot they are pulled aside for further checking. I don't know how effective this is being and if there are other better ways to accomplish the same thing...screening folks who have a fever. But, look for such measures to be implemented at all international airports for sure.
Just so it is clear that this literally had nothing to do with coronavirus.
The official mentioned the new nations on the list had some combination of the following attributes: They do not issue passports with electronic chips, have not enforced lost passport reporting policies consistent with international standards and have not shared criminal and biometric information with the United States. They also may exhibit economic or political conditions that make them vulnerable to terrorist groups.
“We look at compliance and risk in tandem, because we are intrinsically more concerned about risk stemming from gaps and vulnerabilities in high-risk countries, particularly the higher risk that a terrorist can come to the United States,” the official said. “These kinds of fundamental identity management and information sharing gaps become a much higher priority, although we do expect all nations in the world to meet the baseline.”
There should be an absolute 100% travel ban from some "extremist Islamic nations," period. From others, tight controls.
Need to mention, as an FYI, there is a difference, technically, between "Islamic" nations and "Muslim" nations. It might appear as a ticky-tack distinction, but it is real. "Islamic" nations are theocracies, ruled by extremist clerics. Iran is one such. On the other hand, "Muslim" nations are governed by a civil authority or perhaps a monarchy and the primary religion happens to be Islam. Jordan is one such nation.
Keep in mind the Kurds are Muslims...and there is no better ally to the US today. Even though we recently tried to chit all over 'em… :icon_mad:
We did what we told them we were going to do. The blowup was just another attempt from the RINOs and the other haters to make the administration look bad. Those who thought the Kurds would face heavy losses were proven wrong. We never left them high and dry like the haters said we were going to do.
[QUOTE=Guisslapp;1760642]Just so it is clear that this literally had nothing to do with coronavirus.
/QUOTE]
This thread really wasn’t about the China virus.
But in some cases it applies as nations the travel bans are aimed, are very violent towards life in general, their own people and other ethnic and religions.
I am as BIG a Trump supporter you will find...I think you know that. But, unlike our libtard posters here, I do not march lockstep with anyone! I think for myself. Which is why I have some measure of credibility...
The truth is, re: Trump's surprise announcement, it was our military guys on the ground who did not abandon the Kurds in that crucial, early period...up to about a week. The Turks had to back off out of fear of killing Americans who stayed close to the Kurds. THAT IS THE ONLY REASON WE DIDN'T SEE MORE KURDISH CASUALTIES!!!* Then, what was it, about 72 hours later, Trump changed his mind and issued a different order which stabilized the situation in northern Syria.
*as it was the Kurds suffered about 2,400 casualties, of those it was about 300 killed, 2,100 wounded.
So, yeah, our (Trump's) policy has changed. Things are stable in northern Syria, and we still have troops on the ground there. The Turks have taken a bloody nose from all of this too. The Kurds absolutely kicked their ass a few months ago, and during their retreat, the Turks were attacked by some of Assad's units who inflicted more damage on them. The Turks, Erogan, pleaded to NATO to bail them out. But no NATO country agreed to send in military support.
Back to Trump...he made a mistake by making that statement of withdrawing all US troops from Syria. The Turks were poised just across the border, itching for a chance to invade and destroy the Kurds. We knew the Turks had positioned 3 full divisions, about 35,000 soldiers, supported by tanks and aircraft, on their border with Syria, not for defensive purposes, but in an offensive, invasion posture. Actually, by acting too quickly the Turks did themselves a disservice. They should have been more patient and waited until US troops were actually out of Syria.
Again...it was brave and gallant US soldiers who put themselves at risk by acting as a human shield to protect our Kurdish allies in those early days of the invasion. As it was two of our guys were wounded when their observation bunker was shelled by Turkish artillery. Their injuries, and the near-miss of worse, spooked Erogan and he ordered a cease fire allowing us to get our guys out of the way. The Kurds used that opportunity to withdraw as well, which is why there is still a significant Kurdish presence in northern Syria.
I have no problem with eventually withdrawing our troops out of Syria, and Iraq, and Afghanistan...but we MUST provide for the Kurds and other allies (groups) to be able to fend for themselves. My God, man! The Kurds suffered incredible losses defeating ISIS. They stood right next to our guys on the frontlines and often undertook the most dangerous missions, with us providing air support. They have EARNED our loyalty back to them.
Dawg80 posted Pelosi’s criticism to the expansion of the Muslim ban as evidence that Dems opposes the coronavirus travel restrictions.
The two were not the same even though they were both issued the same day. The China travel restrictions overshadowed the expansion of the Muslim travel ban in the news, so Trump and other right wingers have conflated Dems criticism of the latter with a criticism of the former. While a few have criticized the coronavirus travel restrictions, that certainly isn’t the view of Democrat orthodoxy.
Regardless, the benefits of the China travel restriction were severely blunted by our inability to start widespread testing soon thereafter. As you can see from the chart of disease spread, without isolation and containment, the number of cases you start with make little difference if you don’t contain the spread.
For example, starting with 100 or 10,000 cases in the US becomes negligible within 1 week if you don’t contain the 100. That, in essence, is why the China travel ban ended up not mattering very much. We failed to isolate and contain before we had our own contagion.
On the issue of testing...the latest talking point of the left. What testing? A test that did no even exist until...when January, maybe? Oh, but wait! It was just stated again today that the numbers being reported by Italy, Germany, and Spain are bogus!!! They don't truly know how widespread the infection is because the bulk of their tests were not reliable, and are still not reliable. That was made clear today. So, the left needs to think of some other silly reason to criticize Trump...
So Adam Schiff leaks letter (addressed to Grenell) to the press before Grenell ever gets it.. Schiff needs to be arrested IMO.. much of what is wrong in DC is because of the likes of him..

His letter was sent to the press before it was sent to me. These press leaks politicizing the intelligence community must stop

Props to Grenell for calling this out directly. Makes you wonder how long Schiff and Co have been doing this. Only now it's brought to light because a Gov bureaucrat lifer is isn't the position.
Prosecutor for me, I personally feel life in prison is a much harsher punishment vs execution.
Schiff has lied to the Senate, leaked documents to press in the past, all in attempts to control a narrative in the MSM. He also sought to conspire with what he thought were Ukrainian operatives that had dirt on Trump, when it turned out to be a radio DJ playing a prank.
How does one even think up this crappola?

Disgustingly evil people in general.
Hillary, Biden and the Dems thankful for so many deaths so they can pass universal healthcare.
Hillary During Biden Town Hall: Coronavirus ‘Would Be a Terrible Crisis to Waste’
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Tuesday that the coronavirus pandemic “would be a terrible crisis to waste” by not creating “universal health care.”
Clinton, the Democratic Party nominee in the 2016 presidential election, was speaking to former Vice President Joe Biden in a virtual women’s “town hall” meeting, during which she endorsed him for president.
Biden nodded in agreement as Clinton spoke about exploiting the coronavirus pandemic to bring about the left’s dream of “universal health care”:
This is a high-stakes time, because of the pandemic. But this is also a really high-stakes election. And every form of health care should continue to be available, including reproductive health care for every woman in this country. And then it needs to be part of a much larger system that eventually — and quickly, I hope — gets us to universal health care. [Biden nods] So I can only say, “Amen,” to everything you’re saying, but also to, again, enlist people that this would be a terrible crisis to waste, as the old saying goes. [Biden nods] We’ve learned a lot about what our absolute frailties are in our country when it comes to health justice and economic justice.
The “old saying” to which Clinton referred may have been the statement of President Barack Obama’s incoming chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel in December 2008, who told the Wall Street Journal: “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.”

Video circulating on the Net of a bunch of leftist Hollywood types punching each other. Starts with some stuntwoman named Zoe Belle and includes Hallie Berry, Cameron Diaz, Margot Robbie (the Duchess!), and many other actresses. Just the left doing what they do best...being violent. Have to admit there are a few I'd like to punch out myself. But, I have good reason...
Progressive Justice strikes again: Houston man arrested 67 times murders 80y/o
This what you get when you adopt this STUPID belief that the justice system is throwing a bunch of decent innocent people into jail because they didnt have good enough lawyers or enough money. Its an absolute joke.
quote:
At 9:55 a.m., the Houston Police Department received a call of a suspicious person outside a Fiesta Mart near 8600 South Braeswood Boulevard. The suspect was soliciting customers for money and threatening them with a knife, Police Chief Art Acevedo said in a news briefing Saturday afternoon.
quote:
Soon after, employees at a nearby Walgreens noticed a man, who matched the description of the suspect near the Fiest Mart, lingering outside. As a woman approximately 80 years of age exited Walgreens and walked back to her car, the man stabbed the woman in the chest, Acevedo said.
quote:
The suspect entered the woman’s car and attempted to start it. Witnesses flagged down an officer nearby. The officer exited his patrol car and ordered the suspect, still armed with a blade, to exit the car. After about 15 seconds, the suspect exited the car and pointed the knife toward the officer, Acevedo said. The officer discharged two rounds, striking the suspect.quote:
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene by the Houston Fire Department.
The woman, identified as Rosalie Cook, was transported to Memorial Hermann where she later died of her injuries.
quote:Well he won't be released again...:furious3:
Two of Cook’s children were seen comforting one another at the scene. They said their mother leaves behind four children and six grandchildren.
“I got a message from her yesterday, and I want to keep it," said a family friend Oscar Lara. “She’s so sweet. She always takes care of everybody.”
Lara has lived next door to Cook for 14 years. He described her as Mama Rose.

CNN’s Van Jones says 'white, liberal Hillary Clinton supporter' more worrisome than KKK
https://www.foxnews.com/media/cnn-va...er-scarier-kkk
Really? You guys have been saying this:
“It’s not the racist white person, who is in the Ku Klux Klan that we have to worry about. It’s the white, liberal Hillary Clinton supporter walking her dog in Central Park who would tell you right now, 'Oh I don’t see race, race is no big deal to me, I see all people the same, I give to charities’ but the minute she sees as black man who she does not respect, or who she has a slight thought against, she weaponized race like she had been taught by the Aryan Nation,” Jones said.
I know the headlines distort the meaning behind the quote, but HRC isn’t the punchline - it is the person that claims not to see race as an issue.
Even "Whitelash" Jones can stumble onto a nugget of truth every once in a while.
Liberal logic......
I am going to protest the police. Also, I feel like ransacking this Target because of the police.
In Minnesota.. business owners were told, if you kill someone trying to protect your business, you will be charged with murder. Only if the looters or vandals are threatening you or employees would it be considered warranted. Glad I live in Texas..
There is a conspiracy theory going around on FB that is a real doozy! The creator of said theory gets Brownie points for weaving a convincing argument and providing evidence too. The gist of it is the Floyd killing was a set-up to deter Blacks from leaving the Biden train.
Told ya it was a real doozy!
These aren’t peaceful protests! Socialist/Commie liberal Dem. loving Antifa, supported by Soros and obviously the Democrat politico leaders across the country. These are feral animals which are looting, setting buildings on fire and injuring and killing police and innocents.
And Pelosi, Hillary, Obama etc. and their evil Politico minions are quiet and afraid to tell tell the truth and tell the scum to stop. I’m actually beginning to think the “Community Organizer in Chief” is in charge of it all so the socialist Dems have aT least a small chance in November.
No.
Well let’s see if the pro-socialist and pro violence Dems. in Congress do this at all.
Democrats told to hold hearings on U.S. riots and Antifa's role

So much should have posted in this forum the last few weeks. But the leftist and Dems don’t want to fix this problem as they love watching it happen to our country, as does our friend above, all for the name of politics and power as they see it. Just more of the same disgusting ploy and pressure by Pelosi, Obama behind the scenes and Biden from his basement.

ABC, NBC, CBS newscasts skip Democrats opposing GOP-authored police reform bill
Democrats opposed the Republican-authored police reform bill Wednesday – but anyone who relies on the evening newscasts of ABC, NBC or CBS for information would have no idea.
ABC’s “World News Tonight,” “NBC Nightly News” and CBS’ “Evening News” all ignored the story on Wednesday night, according to NewsBusters.
PELOSI SAYS REPUBLICANS 'TRYING TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER' OF GEORGE FLOYD
The Democrats, who opposed the bill on the basis it did not go far enough, sparked a furious war of words on the floor, marking an apparent impasse just weeks after George Floyd's death while under the study of Minneapolis police led to calls for new legislation.
NewsBusters analyst Nicholas Fondacaro wrote that ABC, NBC and CBS “completely ignored how Senate Democrats sank the police reform legislation,” noting that “Fox News Channel’s ‘Special Report’ wasn’t trying to hide the truth from their viewers.”

Probably just a bunch of Harry Potter fans, playing as if they were wizards..
All I have to hear is about 5 minutes of ABC news every morning to know where the socialist democrats stand on this. Like the past 3 plus years, they are playing defense not trying to actually make a difference. Their bill is part of their every four year plan to get out the black vote.
The everything and the kitchen sink approach doesn't work. There was nothing inherently wrong with the Republican's proposal.
Needs to reform policing in general and do more than try to remove bad applies. Reform qualified immunity, demilitarize police, and have stricter standards around the use of force. That should be at the heart of it in addition to the national misconduct registry.
What is "reform policing"? "Reform qualified immunity"? "Demilitarize police"? "stricter standards around the use of force" ?
"national registry for misconduct"? Sounds like a democrat. Have you ever worn a military or police uniform? You need to be put in a
situation where you have to make a decision in nano second. I have.
John Kerry is promising a revolution if Trump is reelected. There ya go, can't accept the results of an election, and that endangers our democracy. Or, that is what Krooked Killary said prior to the 2016 results when she was so certain she would win. Then immediately afterwards she and obummerites started their plot to overturn a duly elected POTUS.
But, Kerry is not interested in silly hoax plots with fake dossiers. Nope! he wants blood in the streets.
So Minneapolis City Council votes unanimously to defund and disband the police.. City council gets threats.. City Council hires private security with taxpayer dollars to protect them.. already spent 63K in two weeks. Irony much??
I'm sure you have a "studies show" BS card stashed away somewhere.
I want my POlice to have a semi-auto with an butt load of extra ammo. I also want them to have access to a auto "assault" weapon just in case...
You and your bobby cops carry on with the sticks and limited restrictions on how to subdue criminals.
Not sure what globalism has to do with policing. You realize throwing around the words “globalism” and “socialism” just makes you look like a weirdo when we aren’t talking about economics. You are getting closer and closer to sounding like Ray.
I am way more of a capitalist than the average American, so suggesting that I am a socialist is silly.
If “globalist” means in favor of “globalization” then I am that, but that is because I am a capitalist.
Capitalism benefits from globalization, not socialism. Our efforts to reduce globalization will reduce capital efficiency, and the goal of doing this is to ultimately to increase the leverage of domestic LABOR vis-a-vis those with capital.
Promoting the idea of labor over capital is particularly odd as we move to a society that is replacing labor with automation, an area that the US has historically enjoyed competitive advantage.
The Washington Post.. attempted a gotcha against Trump that said all of the most dangerous cities in US were run by democrats.. They failed miserably.. lol..
https://theconservativetreehouse.fil...pg?w=640&h=643
A republican mayor was elected to Jacksonville in the last election; therefore the Washington Post has declared that President Trump’s claim: “the most dangerous cities are run by democrats”, is false. There is a top-crime city now run by a republican.
This level of FAIL is so ridiculous, it presents itself almost as if the Washington Post intentionally trying to beclown themselves.
There are hardly any large cities that have Republican mayors.
