No you didn't. The BCS did not start until the 1998 season.

So let me get this straight.......Reneau and company should walk away from, going by the estimates on this board, at least a QUARTER OF A MILLION DOLLARS because a statistical analysis predictor of last years teams (which we routinely beat the spread against) shows that A&M gets 2.79 more points......o_O
We've officially lost our minds....:laugh::shocked2:
Otherwise we are arguing the fact that we are not confident that we have a chance to beat A&M and thus could miss on going undefeated and getting in the BCS...which just stinks of cowardice to me...
Only the top ranked non-AQ team gets the auto bid. GOOD TO KNOW - THANKS
You can not compare a neutral site conference game to a non-neutral site non-conference game. POINT WELL TAKEN (EVEN IF IT WAS A TRIPLE NEGATIVE!)
If it really is a 1mil difference, I'm on with Shreveport. That's a lot of money for a 1 hr bus ride.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought we played our worst 2 games of the season in Ruston (Central Arkansas, Hawaii). It's not like we have some kind of magical mojo in Aillet. I get the argument of being more comfortable for fans, but I'm not sold that our team would play better in Ruston.
There is a different vibe regarding LaTech in S'port/Bossier than in years past. People have begun to recognize us as a legit program. This is different from how it used to be. Fact is, there are some bandwagon fans and alumni that are primed to jump on board. Anybody who is remotely tuned in can detect a difference.
I didn't have any problems at the Grambling game. Parking is a mess for some, but I know what I'm doing with all that. If there were no significant problems around Jewella Ave with Grambling playing, how on earth do y'all think A&M would be any worse?
If we're going to continuosly play in Shreveport, why don't we just rework Q4E so that it just pays for renovations to the I-Bowl stadium? I'm serious, why are we bothering to build up JAS if we keep having to play "home" games in Shreveport? And I'm not buying the claim that playing in Shreveport does any more to attract that fanbase than playing in JAS does. If someone has hard numbers that say otherwise, I'd be glad to see them, but that has certainly never been my impression.
I'm not saying I don't think we should play aTm. I'm saying, like many of you, that if they are so desperate for a game, then make them play us at JAS.
So you're telling me that unlike every other non-AQ/BCS-buster team out there we would not need money games because Reneau & BVDV could fund raise our way into the black?
I'm not saying it couldn't be done at that the money isn't out there, but I don't think it's feasible and would take an almost perfect AD & President to make it happen. You act like if DR & BVDV just have to go out and say "Hey, we need some money." BAM! A million dollars appears "A little more please" BAM! another million.
Not speaking for LFR, but
Yes...
I that was the path that DR would chose to go down -
While we have gotten better the last 6 years, we still cut corners on evrything we do instead of DOING it the right way and investing the money that needs to be be invested to get the desired results -
We could have a FULL FLEDGED athletic's arm of the Foundation with the means to go and GET the money if he wanted to...
Samething with a TRUE Tech radio network and corporate sponsors - we haven't scratched the surface of what we could do
Why don't we just play them in College station then and take the big pay day? This isn't about being afraid of A&M. If anybody thinks that they need to turn in their diploma. This is about being smart. There is a reason no one wants to schedule money games for all of our OOC games and it's not because we are scared. It's because we are not stupid. If we played at USC, at LSU, at Ohio State, and at Oklahoma we could make tons of money and if we won all of the games we would be a sure thing for the national championship. On any given day I think we could beat any of those teams but the odds are that we would not beat all of them. There has to be some planning when setting up the schedule.
I am not a fan of the Lamar game. I don't like playing 2.5 FCS teams in the same season. The schedule is very weak and lamar would be a terrible draw for a home game. However, next years schedule is set up for success that we haven't had in a long long time. If we have the opportunity to host a marquee game like A&M then I think we need to take those opportunities any time we get them even if it might cost us an undefeated season. Having the game in Shreveport is not that special. I am all about solidifying the Shreveport market, but we have hosted A&M there before along with Miami, Ok State, and a few others. So far it hasn't done much to increase our hold on the Shreveport market.
