Don't need much of a bench if blue is on your side.

Does anyone know if FAU also has a much depleted pitching staffs at this point or not?
We needed 2 games vs. FAU. Instead we only get 1 vs. FAU and potentially 3 against Rice. Pretty much worst case scenario for Tech. Playing Rice doesn't help our at-large chances at all with their losing record.
Re: Conference USA Tournament
USM leads 4-3 heading into the 9th. UTSA is home team
Re: Conference USA Tournament
USM up 5-3
B9 1 out UTSA runners at 1st and 2nd.

Tech has no chance at an at-large without making the championship game regardless of opponents.
USM 5 UTSA 3 FINAL.
Tech-FAU should start around 5:15.
Biloxi weather looks ok for now. Band of rain is north slowly moving further inland, and nothing else looks to be moving inland.
Re: Conference USA Tournament
USM advances to semifinals. We’ll play in about 30-45 minutes
Re: Conference USA Tournament
Dave on the air. Game should start by 5:30.

If that were the case, USM might also face a bit of adversity. If you want to make it easier for one team, but not obvious, you'd probably try to get them down a game before they meet the team you want to win.

Agreed. 2 games against FAU would have been our only shot at moving into the top 50 in the rpi. 2 wins against FAU would have added multiple top 50 wins, as well. It would have also hurt their RPI and provided us an opportunity to separate from them in the eyes of the Committee. That's out the window now.
Re: Conference USA Tournament
We needed to win the tournament, and losing the first game to a very average Rice team all but guarantees that’s not going to happen.

Two wins over FAU would've probably done the trick, but after losing to Rice, we pissed away that opportunity to only get one shot against them in an elimination game.
And "average" is putting it too nicely for Rice. This is by far the worst Rice team in more than a quarter century. If Rice was the real Rice this year, then we would probably be in the big dance right now with our sweep over them. Our RPI would be Top 50, and we would have two Q1 money series wins. That's pretty much a lock. Rice's bad season hurt Tech (and the rest of C-USA) big time.

And I wouldn’t be surprised if they win the tournament.........again

I'm just so tired of the excuses. They are never ending for this school.
Re: Conference USA Tournament
The really disappointing part is that just like in 2017 this team was a really good team up until mid-season. We were #22 and #27 nationally this year in the D1 Baseball and Coaches' polls in week 8. http://warrennolan.com/baseball/2018...Louisiana-Tech
Then we fell apart. We lost home series vs Charlotte and Mid TN (didn't even qualify for CUSA tournament), as well as the UALR debacles and we nearly lost to the RPI 250 team in Ruston right before the CUSA tournament. Grambling was the only team on our 2018 schedule with a worse RPI than ODU.
Our ROAD record was better than our HOME record! We finished 5-6 in our final 11 games in Ruston! That is simply a lack of adequate mental preparation and determination to take care of our business. Win 3 of those Ruston choke sessions and we are an at-large bid team today IMO.

Yes, but our AD and many of our fans are happy just to be a resume building program. 40 wins means NOTHING if you are not in the regionals. We use these meaning less stats like "first time every to win 20 conference games" and "3 years in a row with 30 wins"...Really? Any decent program should win 20 in CUSA and 30 EVERY year. 40 is not even a lock, but should be the bar.
Ticket sales going down in football, MBB, and baseball with winning programs. Our AD is inept.
