Re: Comments That Don't Warrant A Thread
there really should be an automatic expiration on thread titles that start with "just in:"

I've never fired anybody. I've helped people find other career opportunities. They fired themselves. I just carried out the due diligence to document their issues and worked with HR/Legal to make sure we did it correctly.

I had no idea that Carl Torbush was the DC for Kansas.

2 revelations from Thanksgiving morning from the Macy's parade:
1. apparently boy bands are trying to make a come back, and on a float in the parade.
2. there seems to be more references to Christmas than the PC Happy Holidays.

my only observation from my limited exposure to the parade this morning: my wife's aunt saying, "look, kids, it's square pants bob pants!"

Don't like it? Then go out into the world and make your own way! Our family dogs, both of 'em, tried it. After a week they were back begging at the door.
What happened, I asked?
They said: well, we found a dead deer and then had to fight a pack of coyotes for it...we lost. And, there are cars everywhere out there. Nearly got run over several times! Can we please come back? We'll never complain about the Kibbles-n-Bits again, we promise!
They are both, at this moment, curled up together on a thick rug next to the fire.
Damn dogs!
Ya gotta luv 'em!

Adidas products overall seem to be turnin to crap. With Nike's overall dominance getting even bigger and Under Armour's rise, Adidas products just seem to have been getting worse and worse.

Headline says it all. I pass by this restaurant every single day on my way to work.
Re: Comments That Don't Warrant A Thread
So I've gotten involved in volunteering some time at a few local schools around here. Today I took some vacation time to hang out with a Jr. High science class and launch 2L bottle rockets. I bought a PVC made launch pad on ebay. The kids built their rockets with a (fictional) budget with the purpose of keeping it in the air as long as possible. Part of that budget was PSI in the bottle, so the more you spent on materials the less pressure you got in the bottle.
It was fun to see their different ideas. This was their first experience in dealing with a budget and having to plan out a project ahead of time.

I am holding interviews this week to refill this position. It is still difficult, but a lot more pleasant.
The feds may still be adding jobs, but there are an awful LOT of highly qualified folks desperate for work from the municipal and non-profit sectors .
