Cotton - overpriced blue blood crap.
Copelands - Really? You have at least 3 spots in Ruston better than this
BWW - Horrible wings, horrible service, ugliest servers EVAR!
Chick-fil-A - Ruston is getting one.
McCallisters - Its a sandwich
Five Guys - overpriced hamburger. Cheeburger is MUCH better
Enochs - You have this type spot in Ruston
Jimmy Johns - Good grief!
Olive Garden - SMH!
None of what you posted will keep students in Ruston
Re: Peanut Buckets Coming to DAWGTOWN
I disagree with your BWW comment. They're better than Ruston's Wing Stop. Also, their other food items are pretty good, too. I love their soft pretzels (except for the gallon of salt on each)... And now I need to make an order.
But if there is something even better, bring that!

What "nice" places in Shreveport are Tech students having to go to?
Your last sentence is flat out false. Ever been to Dawg House, Ponchatoulas, Sundown, Beau Vines, The Revelry, Portico, Log Cabin, Raw, Ronin, Roma, El Jarrito, El Toro, La Bamba, Applebee's, Chili's, Logan's, Johnny's, or Newk's? You can socialize and drink at all 18 of those places in Ruston.

Good gosh if you're gonna try to be a restaurant critic you start at the top . . . . Griff's!

Had a feeling your judgement was coming. Most of those restaurants I listed advertise for the 30 and under age group. About 70% of whats in Ruston now advertises for "the family" group. It almost seems that you are against anything new with your rejection on every store I listed. They may not be the best but, I am starting a dialog for anyone interested in getting higher quality and appealing businesses.

Does Griff's serve alcohol?

There are numerous amount of restaurants in Shreveport that are better than half those you listed. The last sentence is geared towards bars. If there were more bars downtown and throughout the city and other types of entertainment in town besides sit down and eat places. I think there would be a better atmosphere for students and young adults in their 20s and 30s.

If Griff's served alcohol, we could just shut down every other restaurant in the city because they would be pointless.
Re: Peanut Buckets Coming to DAWGTOWN
Ruston could use a brewery/brewpub. The food scene is fine, imo. Maybe could add an Indian restaurant, a la Taste of India, but overall, the food scene is adequate.

You are the one doing the "judging".
You said those things would keep students in Ruston for the weekend. I call BS.
You led off with Cotton which is impossible to get out of for under $30 if you have a beer with your meal. That's certainly not a college friendly spot.
BTW, I agreed on Chick-Fil-A. Ruston is getting a full service thanks to the stroke of our local Chick-Fil-A person.

Just because they would say "I got BJs."
And alcohol I guess.
A bit pricey, though.
(They don't franchise.)
Re: Peanut Buckets Coming to DAWGTOWN
where's the new Chick-Fil-A going to be located at?

I'm sorry, but your struggle is laughable. I live in Shreveport. I know what's here and what's in Ruston. There is no college scene in Shreveport except during Christmas break. Ruston's nightlife for college students is 1000x better than Shreveport's. As a Tech student, I never had to go to Shreveport to find a bar or a nice restaurant. I'm still curious what is so good that Tech students have to drive all the way to Shreveport and back for.
When I started at Tech, we didn't have half the options y'all have now in Ruston. The only times we ever had to leave Ruston was to go to a movie theater in West Monroe because we didn't have one in Ruston (but now you do), and we'd eat at Ronin while we were there because there was no sushi restaurant in Ruston (now you have two).
You are saying things like you want Ruston to get "nice chain restaurants instead of small burger joints," but then you say you go to Monroe to eat at Five Guys.
When you make totally false claims like "If a college age person wants to socialize and drink your options are narrowed down to going to a frat house or staying at home" it plays into a negative stereotype of Ruston that simply doesn't have any validity anymore. Repeating that crap does nothing but inhibit Tech's ability to grow.
And one more thing... The majority of Tech students are under the legal drinking age so it's best they drink at frat houses or at home or their apartments. Places like WOW get shut down for serving underage students.
Re: Peanut Buckets Coming to DAWGTOWN
In any case, Monroe isn't *that* far away...
