School is a hell of a lot easier and a hell of a lot more fun than going to work every day and all day. Take my word for it. You just need to put a work effort, hell, 1/2 work effort (2 straight and hard hours of nothing but school per night) into studying and I guarantee success. If you don't believe me just punch in www.maxwellsmarket.com (the business that I own and run) and check out the store hours on the right hand side. Just take care of this easy shit now and get yourself educated in a field that allows you a little time off in the future. I promise that the time and effort you put in over the next short period of your life will repay you a ton in the future. If you don't straighten up a bit I'll sell you this damn grocery store and that'll learn you.

What field is that? Most of the people I know that invested time in their education work much longer hours than the average laborer or "office worker."

Notice the "little time off" reference. Truth be told, a good business owner stands a much better chance of getting out early than a lawyer, MD, ect.. Truly the PhD/educator is the most lucrative vs hrs worked that I know of personally.

My son's 4th grade class did a nice Christmas gift for parents. It was a framed sheet of paper that randomly listed things their parent likes. It printed the things I REALLY like in large print and the print decreased in size from there. I may need to work on my priorities if this is the way a 10 year old boy sees his dad, but still not bad...
1. Bulldogs
2. Church
3. Family
4. Golf
5. Bass
6. Camp
7. Stormchasers
8. Gumbo
9. Football
10. Backstrap
11. Man vs. Wild
12. Burgers

My aunt was cooking boxed potatoes when the glass baking dish exploded in the oven. It didn't crack and fall apart. It blew up. So, at first I thought "thermal expansion," right? Except the dish was loaded with the potatoes and had four cups of boiling water poured into the dish. Additionally, this dish had been used in an oven many, many times.
So, what makes borosilicate explode under heat like that?

Apparently not, but I'm still surprised that the pan exploded instead of just cracking and falling apart.

sounds almost like it got cracked somehow beforehand, but not bad enough to come apart. then a little water got in the cracks and heated up -- b.l.e.v.e.

Whatever it was, I wish I could find a way to recreate and mass produce it. I think this would be a GREAT prank gift item. It made a pretty loud popping sound that could be heard from the next room and pieces of the pan traveled pretty large distances inside the oven.

The oven the size of a house or something?

No, but it is decent size I guess. Pieces moved up to three or four inches, which I would call a relatively large distance considering there wasn't any intention to move them at all. My point is, pieces displaced a greater distance than they would have if they had just fallen off of the pan.
Additionally, very tiny pieces of glass were caught up on top of where the metal rack slides in above where the metal rack was slid in.

Re: Comments That Don't Warrant A Thread
Crazily cold weather makes me very concerned for the homeless. I heard a radio piece on NPR yesterday where a homeless shelter director was out (in Atlanta, I think) trying to get people to come to the shelter for the night. All but one person they talked to elected to stay outdoors. I realize it is their choice and you can't make them go inside, but it really makes me feel sorry for them (I hate to be cold). Especially since someone who opts to sleep in a cardboard box when it is 4 degrees outside is probably not playing with a full deck for one reason or another.

NPR? Really? That explains a lot.:icon_wink:
There is a homeless guy down the street from my office who eats out of trash cans. One of the local cafes has offered him food, but he won't accept it. They started placing the food in a trash can to fake him off. He now gets several well balanced meals per day.

You hit the nail on the head. Our homeless "problem" is a direct result of liberals trying to make people who have no business amoung the general population (for their own good) part of society. They wanted so bad for these people to be out of institutions they sent them right out on the street so they can freeze to death. A perfect example of having great intentions but not dealing with the reality of the situation that liberals do all the time.

Wow.
Don't want to let facts get in the way of a good old fashioned tirade, but only about 16-26% of homeless people are mentally ill.

Re: Comments That Don't Warrant A Thread
Touchy subject and one that I tend to "whistle while I walk by the graveyard" on. I lived on a buddie's couch for a period of time and then lived in an unheated, no AC and no phone apartment with no vehicle for a couple of years (BTW: Greedy ex-wives suck!). I got up every day and went to work at a business down the street, 7 days a week, oftentimes 14 hours each day. The only thing I'd like to point out is that I own that business now. Being close to homeless was no fun and I'd have damn sure been that way had it not been for good friends and a little help from family and I'd assume that some of those folks out there aren't fortunate to have one or the other.

Or haven't been categorized at all. Or are panhandling by choice and are fully capable of finding a job and working if they wanted to. The fact still remains that many of the homeless are mentally ill and have no business being on the street and are there as a result of misguided liberals with good intentions and poor results. My point as I recall.

Just moving within Fort Worth. We'll actually be right by TCU now. Like, "please don't park in my driveway for football games" close.
There will be plenty of positives about the move and I'm trying to remind myself of them daily. But it wasn't really our choice (the short version is that our current landlord is trying to sell the house we're in and we don't want to buy it) and it was a little sudden how it all went down and it's a little more rent for a little smaller house and (of course) the whole actual packing the boxes and cleaning and culling the junk moving thing.
It'll be fine, but it's going to be a long week.

You have much to learn about beer-drinking, good sir. If getting drunk for cheap is your goal, there are better options than beer. Beer is sacred, and Michelob has commited a vile act of sacrilege with their low-calorie offering.

Everyone knows that WHEN, not if, time travel is invented, you can only travel back as far as to when the time machine was created.
So yeah, once we create the time machine, I expect the first thing that will happen is some dude coming through from the other side telling us that its a BAD IDEA and we should DESTROY IT IMMEDIATELY
And of course we won't listen.

Thee is used when refering to a person. It is like thou or thine. THE is an article like a/an.
EX: Might I take thee to a movie. (some refer to it as Queen's English)
I will take you to the movie.
Also yes it most likely was from that long ago. As I mentioned in a post just a few above this one. I'm just discovering this thread and working my way through reading them.

No I'm talking about pronunciation of the word "the" as it should be pronounced when preceding a word beginning with a vowel or a vowel sound...similar to a/an you discussed earlier.

do we need to revive the grammar thread?
"thee" before a vowel sound, "thuh" before a consonant sound.
and a/an depends on the word it preceeds, not the word it modifies.

Absolutly False... it usually is the word that the article preceeds, but not always. "The is always used, never "Thuh."
