Re: Tech vs TAMU in Shreveport this fall
Something else to think about, most of the chatter has been that we will drop Lamar and play the game Sept 1st, but the Port City Classic is that day, so if it is in Shreveport then what day? (p.s. I'm less happy with the Shreve deal if it moves the game to Friday/Thursday)
Re: Tech vs TAMU in Shreveport this fall
Thursday prior to Labor Day would be my guess...

If money is the only difference, then why not just play in College Station? I truly do not believe that you will have a home field advantage playing in Shreveport, so it makes little sense to me to play there if money is the only differing factor. Again, I could be off, and we are coming off a strong season, so there could be more support in Shreveport this time around...but I just don't see casual fans buying tickets when they won't travel to Ruston.
And to germdawg...the key phrase in that was "if we're going to continuously..." implying future tense, not past.

I can't see how a Thursday game in Shreveport would net 300-500k more than a Sat. game at the Joe...

And I'm not buying the claim that playing in Shreveport does any more to attract that fanbase than playing in JAS does. If someone has hard numbers that say otherwise, I'd be glad to see them, but that has certainly never been my impression.
I'm not saying I don't think we should play aTm. I'm saying, like many of you, that if they are so desperate for a game, then make them play us at JAS.
I don't have hard numbers, but I have lived in s'port almost 30 years and I can tell you for a fact that s'port will follow Tech IF we win. S'port follows whoever is winning, just look at the Saints/Cowboys fans. In the 90's the whole town loved the Cowboys and now it's the Saints. I don't care if we play A&M in ruston or Shreveport, but we have to start winning these games if we want a piece of this market.

Gross. If that's the case, I'm out. Play it in Ruston or say screw it and keep Lamar.
I'd still go, but that would make an already questionable decision just downright awful.

I'd agree with that. But I still think it's not a good basis to decide where the game should be played. The community support is not guaranteed, unlike in Ruston where you can draw on the fan-base and students to attend. I also think our leadership throwing out Shreveport as a suggestion shows a lack of committment to improving JAS, but that's IMO.

I think we will have as much of a home field advantage in Shreveport as in Ruston. I think more casual fans will come attend the game. My demand is that ALL of the premium seating MUST go to LaTech season ticket holders and fans.
Re: Tech vs TAMU in Shreveport this fall
Maybe after we win this game in Shreveport the good people from that area will start making the short trip for the Ruston games. Come on people lets make the best of this!!
Re: Tech vs TAMU in Shreveport this fall
Putting this game on Thursday night I think negates the financial arguments in favor of it being in Shreveport. DFM, you agree or disagree?

I completely agree, just stating that if we have to play in shreveport, we HAVE to start winning these games.
Re: Tech vs TAMU in Shreveport this fall
Thursday definitely changes my opinion of this game; if the choices are:
A) Thursday in Shreveport
B) Saturday in Ruston
C) No Game
I choose B or C hands down, their is no way a Thursday Shreve game net's us more than a Saturday Ruston game against A&M

A win over an SEC team on national television: Priceless
