To get this back on track ...
The Summer edition of the Tech Talk continues this discussion that began on the blog. It includes a righteous disclaimer about the sacred rights of journalists to say whatever they please in any opinion piece, and damn the consequences.
To their credit ... they did at least print an opposing opinion. So that's something. But by prefacing it with a snitty response, it tells me they don't actually respect their reader's views. (Maybe they just needed to fill space.)
Anway, the paper is now available on campus, but wasn't up on the website this morning.

This is directed at the TechTalk staff, not Champ967;
I don't think anyone said he couldn't say it, everyone said he shouldn't say it and is a douchebag for saying it. Readers have the right to complain about a piece they don't agree with as well. It is just really, really, really, stupid to write about supporting a rival school when 100% of your readers go/went to Tech. This asshole needs to learn something before writing for the Tech paper, he's a 26 year old transfer who has been at Tech for 1 quarter, so obviously he doesn't know jack about Tech. I'm dissapointed more in the Tech Talk for allowing this guy to write for them than I am in what he wrote, he can't help it that he's ignorant.
Re: New Sports Blog on Tech Talk
Let this guy come by the BB&B tailgates this fall and I will need some people to put together a fund for me to post bail. I have no problem with his opinion and giving of his opinion. I take offense to his doing so while bashing the forum that allows him to do so. You want to cut down on Tech and talk about how irrelevant it is, then do it on a non-Tech sponsored blog or forum.
Re: New Sports Blog on Tech Talk
Where does the funding for the Tech Talk come from? Real Papers have to sell copies and sell advertising space. I've seen ads in the Tech Talk. Is it self sufficient? If it is somebody needs to take copies to all the Tech-Loyal sponsors in the paper and they will pull their support. I want to see a retraction.
Re: New Sports Blog on Tech Talk
I still don't understand how you just walk into a place like that and get that job. I wish Sim had burned his hat at the interview too, what a douchebag. I wear Tech stuff all the time down here, but even I have enough respect not to go wearing Tech stuff in the midst of people trying to enjoy an LSU event unless Tech is playing too. He's just trying to stir up crap. He probably gets off on the attention like an emo kid: "ohhh my opinions are so oppressed! Freedom of the press!!" Cry me a river, build a bridge, and get over it.

Too bad I can't say the same. As far as I'm concerned, they wear their stuff around everyone else, so they can expect it from me as well. In fact, years ago when LSU was playing for the World Series Championship game I went to some LSU friends' house to watch the game with them. I wore my Tech cap. The friend who was hosting the game party complained to me about wearing my Tech cap. I simply told him, it's my university. I didn't graduate from LSU so I don't wear LSU gear just as I wouldn't expect him to wear Tech gear. Besides, what difference did it make if I was helping him pull for LSU. Not to mention, I was the only one who thought of bringing the peanuts. You can't watch baseball without peanuts. He agreed and everything was fine.
I have no problem with alumni of other schools wearing their schools' gear while they are supporting Tech and that includes LSU alumni.

Why wouldn't you wear your Tech stuff? I don't support LSU but if I went to an LSU event to support LSU I would wear my Tech stuff. You can bet they won't be shedding their gear to support or respect us. The point here is not about alumni of other schools wearing their stuff to Tech events. This is about a Tech STUDENT wearing his LSU crap to class and around campus and to Tech sports events and then crowing about it from the top of his LSU bandwagon and expecting us to lap it up like candy. Well, we didn't and he's a little crybaby whose freedom of the press rights have been interferred with. BS. We have the right to object to the content of his crappy blog. We objected and that's the way this works. Deal with it Kevin.

I have a good friend that went to LSU and he got me a ticket to the final four a couple of years ago. But i had to sit in the LSU student section. I went and wore my Tech shirt in the middle of all of them. The looks I got were priceless.

Re: New Sports Blog on Tech Talk
Let me clarify... I don't go in slamming the LSU people. If I wanna wear a hat, it's a Tech hat, and I wear a Tech shirt whenever I feel like it. Example: I got really sick of hearing about the world series here at work, and everyone here was watching it on a projector... I didn't gloat and celebrate Fresno all over them as they were losing. I also wouldn't wear Tech clothes into some LSU sporting EVENT that someone might invite me to (ONLY when Tech isn't playing) unless obviously if Tech is playing them. I'm just talking about respect. I will NEVER stop sporting Tech in any other place EVER. We have signed LSU memorabilia and crap ALL over the walls at my company, but I've got my Tech stuff in my office. As soon as I get my hands on this year's schedule poster, it's going in a frame and up on the wall. People have to come in and make stupid comments when they see my amazing desktop background too. Don't doubt my extreme, endless love for the Blue!
I actually just set an LSU dude straight. His wife is a Tech alum and HUGE Bulldog fan, so their house is divided, but he was laughing when I said he needs to watch out when the Dawgs beat LSU in a few years. I gave him a good talking to and a history lesson about LSU's supposedly "flagship" football team.
To prove my Tech colors, I'm in Section OO, Row 34, Seats 10-12.

Didn't mean to seem like I doubted your Tech loyalty. That was never the case. I'm just saying that I don't share your respect for attending LSU "parties" and not wearing Tech gear. I'm going to wear it regardless as that's what all the LSU people I know do. The way I figure it, if I have to be subjected to all types of LSU clothing while attending church services, then I'll wear my Tech gear to whatever LSU function I choose.

Your Tech colors are fine! I give you green for your Tech colors!
Re: New Sports Blog on Tech Talk
I see my letter made it in the opinion column as did Tech78's. Naturally they are so busy defending their opinions and reserving their rights they couldn't take time to spell my name correctly. Nice.
