And no one has ever argued that there is a greater than 50% chance that you or a member of your family will be harmed if you have a firearm in the house. But the stats do bear out that you are at greater risk by having a gun in the house.
“Data from a US mortality follow-back survey were analyzed to determine whether having a firearm in the home increases the risk of a violent death in the home and whether risk varies by storage practice, type of gun, or number of guns in the home. Those persons with guns in the home were at greater risk than those without guns in the home of dying from a homicide in the home (adjusted odds ratio = 1.9, 95% confidence interval: 1.1, 3.4). They were also at greater risk of dying from a firearm homicide, but risk varied by age and whether the person was living with others at the time of death. The risk of dying from a suicide in the home was greater for males in homes with guns than for males without guns in the home (adjusted odds ratio = 10.4, 95% confidence interval: 5.8, 18.9). Persons with guns in the home were also more likely to have died from suicide committed with a firearm than from one committed by using a different method (adjusted odds ratio = 31.1, 95% confidence interval: 19.5, 49.6). Results show that regardless of storage practice, type of gun, or number of firearms in the home, having a gun in the home was associated with an increased risk of firearm homicide and firearm suicide in the home.”

I guess that depends on how you group the steps.
Step 1 could be “classify”, which is already implied in Arab/Muslim.
Step 2 could be “symbolize”, which is “camel jock”.
Step 3 could be “discriminate”, which advocating for a Muslim ban would be. But it also includes many other subjectively held beliefs about Arabs and Muslims.
Step 4 could be “dehumanize”, which involves the denial of humanity such as likening the “other” group to animals. I have no doubt that we have seen that line crossed quite a few times in this forum.
So, I think we are a little further down the road than step 1.
Did you know that having a meal makes you less hungry than not having a meal? Groundbreaking stuff I know. No one is arguing that having a gun doesn’t increase risk. Many have said the same on the 2nd Amendment thread. I still don’t understand why I have to accept illegals and any of the actions on our soil. You haven’t justified that yet. I am not okay with citizens or illegals(beyond simply being here as criminals) committing crimes. However, you seem to be okay with illegals committing crimes because it is less often than citizens. “Lucy, you got some splainin to do.”
Guisslapp's usual change of subject. Now back to guns.
I don’t work with them for a living. But is their harm really any different than those that have suffered the same by American citizens? Again, American citizens are at least twice as likely to rape, abuse, rob and assault as undocumented immigrants. Sometimes, people do terrible things to each other no matter what their citizenship status is. You are also FAR more likely to be raped, abused or assaulted by a family member.
Btw, since Kanye is the new poster child for the Trump movement, consider what he says on his new song, “I thought about killing you”:
Today I seriously thought about killing you
I contemplated, premeditated murder
And I think about killing myself
And I love myself way more than I love you, so…
Today I thought about killing you, premeditated murder
You'd only care enough to kill somebody you love
The most beautiful thoughts are always inside the darkest

I've asked some. All of them I talked to were attacked by American citizens. (Mostly by white, male Baby Boomers to be precise.)
I've also talked with some illegals who work like dogs, dawn till dusk, for crumbs, but still send every penny back home to support their families. They dont drink, smoke, swear, join gangs, or commit any crime, save for existing in the USA.
I agree that the survey is probably wrong. It is well established that surveys skew towards the perceived favorable response. That is also why the pollsters missed the true amount of racist sentiment in the electorate in 2016. They thought Obama proved we were living in a post-racial society.
