The phenomenon you describe is not uncommon when educated, middle-class families leave an area.
It is a trend difficult, but by no means impossible, to reverse.

I don't see it being reversed any time in my lifetime.... knowing what it was and what it is now!

A complete turnaround -- from dire cracked-out ghetto to restored trendy hipster neighbothood -- can happen in as little as 15 years.
But it takes persistent, long-term commitment from community leaders. Whether Shreveport has that, I cant say ...

The Shreveport Police department does a fine job with security and traffic. Quit worrying and give yourself time to get in and out the stadium and most of all Cheer on the Dawgs!
We bulldog fans are spoiled when it comes to parking near the stadium and leaving after the game. So this will always be difficult to us. Some will always think change is bad. What's funny is the same people that complain about the time it takes to get out of events are the same ones that hold up traffic on the interstate because they want to go exactly 55mph and the truck next to them is going 54.85mph!
If everyone would just relax when leaving and take their time it wouldn't be frustrating. Frustrating was when it took 6 1/2 hours to get out of Texas Motor Speedway when it first opened for a concert! (I've heard they've fixed that problem now!)
Now, if you're parking in the neighborhood, at one of those $5/$10 cash lots, expect to get harassed by the locals. It's entertainment to them! If you simply don't react to there actions and treat them with the respect you give to most ("excuse me" or "good evening" as you walk by) your not entertaining to them. They go to the next person. These kids (at worst mentally a child) are like hecklers at a comedy show. They are looking for attention. Don't give them attention and they start looking for the next person that will.

Frequent, near daily, reports of shootings in that neighborhood for a while there in recent times makes that a pretty dang acceptable opinion lol

You want to see a rough neighborhood, go to a game at the Los Angeles Coliseum. As a kid, in the 60's (yes the 1960's), my dad took me to Rams and Trojans games and we parked in backyards. Even as a junior higher, I was always relieved to get to the stadium.
Re: Shuttle Info for A&M Game?
Perhaps the stadium is located in a bad part of town but I've just never heard of anyone getting attacked or hurt or anything like that at a sporting event at Indy. If anyone can prove me wrong have at it. I also think it is plain stupid for La. Tech fans to continually rag and criticize the venue that we will play any "BIG" game in. How much sense does that make? Do we want people to come to the games at Indy or not?
Re: Shuttle Info for A&M Game?
Actually Champ967 is right. It IS an opinion.
"Rough" is an opinion but being the 'hood with the "highest incidence of crimes" isn't.
And as for leaders and revitalizing......Glover! LOL!
That said, I would never even THINK of missing a game at Indy. Bring on the dawgs!

I agree. I always stay at a fabulous bed and breakfast just a couple blocks north of the Stadium; almost never get shot.

And when you do get shot...it is just a flesh wound.
I watch channel 3 KTBS news every night. There are a LOT of shootings in the Queensboro area! Maybe there aren't any shootings before or after a game around the stadium, but I am VERY careful as to where I park and where I walk in that area. Everyone else can do what they want. That being said, I will be at the game Thursday and at any other games that TECH has scheduled there. I grew up in that area, went to school in that area, know how it was then, and know how it is now.
Re: Shuttle Info for A&M Game?
They aren't shooting random people trying to get to a football game. In fact, the shooters look for a context where there aren't many potential witnesses.

The SPD On-line crime data does not support the implication that "every night" there are a "lot of shootings in the Queensboro area."
