I still can't believe we won that ballgame -
We stole one
Re: 2/6 Tulsa game (Coach Mike WHITE OUT)
I suppose we were due to have a game like this at home.
Our games are normally fun from tip to final buzzer. This one was fun for 5 seconds, boring for 35 minutes, then fun for 5 minutes.
Crowd was great. Students turned out well. Imagine having over 5k in there consistently.

I think Coach White is trying to walk a fine line with the FT's - trying to push them enough with extra work on it while at the same time not making it a mental issue - except for Keyon basically everyone was bad at the line tonite
Kyser was HUGE on the floor the last 5 minutes of the ball game - as bad as he played the first 35, he was that good the last 5
We had the looks all night long - counted 4 threes that were in the basket and popped back out
Hamilton was off again tonite - he really struggled with all aspects of his game
Andersen was cold as ice but got several huge put backs
But it was a W and I will take it
My guess was the crowd was just south of 4k - maybe 3,800 but they were LOUD that last 5 minutes
They were really loud, especially on the shot clock violation stretch - as loud as I have ever heard the TAC, even when it was full
Agree with all of this.
Kyser's last 5 minutes is why you never give up on him. He took over the game on the defensive end when it mattered the most.
Anderson and Hamilton each had probably their worst game of the year, in the same game, and we still won. But you dance with what brung you, and I am glad Coach didn't do anything drastic. Chris pulled down some crucial rebounds and scored some big buckets down the stretch... and he had the steal of the game to get us over the hump.
And games like tonight is why I like to be on the first row. It was DEAFENING down the stretch. Great job by the crowd.
BIG, UGLY WIN, and that is just fine.

Tech did enough from the last media timeout to just under a minute left to win it, but came too close to blowing it after that.
And I don't take it as something to laugh at, not in game 24.
Re: 2/6 Tulsa game (Coach Mike WHITE OUT)
This was our second-worst offensive performance of the season... and we still won against a good team!
The energy in the TAC during the final five minutes was phenomenal! Great job by the fans tonight!
Kenyon put the team on his back during the last couple minutes without making a single three-pointer.
How about Kyser draining the clutch mid-range jumper to put us ahead for good? Kyser and Massey were a combined perfect 5-5 from the field tonight.
Re: 2/6 Tulsa game (Coach Mike WHITE OUT)
I agree with y'all who say that Kyser was the one who got us over the hump in the last 5 minutes, then Kenyon sealed it.
That game revealed a couple of things to me: First, we have benefitted with Raheem being injured by the emergence of Jaron Johnson. Second, we need Raheem to win the conference tournament.

I can't believe Coach White can't coach 'em out of that problem.
Anytime you shoot your eyes should be on the opposite part of the rim. Which, from a shooter's perspective, is "inside" the basket. Basic fundamental....just like breathing.
Still, a very good W for the Dawgs.

Unfortunately, I was under the weather last night. I followed through blurry eyes the last ten minutes on game tracker. My question is why did Hamilton score so littl?. If this has been discussed elsewhere, I'm sorry.

Defended well and he had an off night. Got to the rim a few times and missed defended lay ups.
Tulsa contributed a lot to it, but he usually finishes even against that kind of D.

I'm no basketball expert, but it looked like Tulsa was playing a match-up zone defense against us. They were collapsing in the paint when Hamilton and Speedy penetrated. They had an elite shot blocker who looked like a mirror of Kyser. So our guards couldn't get any easy buckets at the rim.
Re: 2/6 Tulsa game (Coach Mike WHITE OUT)
I just wanted to echo a few things from this thread and give a few others props as well.
This was an ugly win, but every team has ugly wins. I thought the refs were ok. We drove to the basket in the second half a lot, and even though we weren't getting the baskets, we did cause them to foul a lot. We definitely miss Appleby at times. Jaron saved the day for most of the game last night. Jaron was the only consistent scorer for 75% of the game. The entire defense looked good when we clawed back in. I have to repeat what Dwayne said, which is Kyser was a huge non-factor early in the game, but that man played some great basketball for half of the second.
But the huge kudos last night should go towards the student section. That was the best student section I've seen in my years as a Tech student/alum (2000-2014). The students are packing the section, they were standing the majority of the game, they were yelling for probably 90% of the game, and that place was super loud for the last 5 minutes or so. I think the students did an amazing job last night, and I think they are starting to develop something hopefully.
Re: 2/6 Tulsa game (Coach Mike WHITE OUT)
I have almost no voice left from screaming at the TV last night. Way to go guys...NEVER GIVE UP.

And early in the game when him and Speedy were driving they were not going to the basketball hard, they were just going in and throwing something wildly up hoping to get the foul and the refs would NOT give it to them -
