Re: Win Saturday = Independence Bowl Bid ?
For the love of God, let’s never ever speak of this s**t bowl ever again.

Time to move on from this thread.
You just posted in this thread. You understand what you just did right?
BTW, don't go there with the McClelland "near capacity" thing. The stadium only held like 16K.
Re: Win Saturday = Independence Bowl Bid ?
Thankfully I didn’t have to go to the game so no TECH/USM gear delimma. Glad I didn’t have to freeze out there!

I'm firmly in this camp. This bowl game just needs to be culled, for everyone's benefit.

It was "near" capacity....until the mass exodus of SMU fans. Now, whether the stadium holds 20K as everyone but you say, or 16K, of if the effing stadium has 8K seats IT WAS NEAR CAPACITY!!! That is a fact.
Here we go again. Just like last year when you want to belittle our win over Navy, now OMG! let's be sure and rain on Tech's bowl parade.
BTW, I want to know...
HoD Bowl 2014 Were you there? Yes or No
NO Bowl 2015 Were you there? Yes or No
AF Bowl 2016 Were you there? Yes or No
Frisco Bowl 2017 Were you there? Yes or No

You are correct, the "near capacity" mantra is very similar to the "top 25" mantra. Some of our low football IQ fans buy that kind of BS.
Due to financial and family holiday commitments over the past 4 years I have not been able to attend. Family first.
If you were there you should know that approximately 4K seats were unavailable so reported capacity was 16K.

Funny how we're now grading this bowl game on a curve. The turnstile count will be somewhere between 15k and 19k. USM brought between 3,500 and 5,000 for a game within easy driving distance of most of its fanbase against a P5 program that began the year in the top 5, one of the most recognizable brands in college athletics.

No, that's an opinion supported by facts.

There were about 200-250 seats in the corner of the EZ on the west side that were available, but only had a few folk scattered in them. So, if there were 20,000 seats and say, 19,800 were taken, I would say that rises to the level of "it was near capacity."

16,500 was capacity with the construction in the south end zone. So with 15,000 in the stands it was near capacity, even though capacity was a shot glass.

Thought the game was a sell out! Can't help if people didn't show up for a game that tickets were paid for...
Re: Win Saturday = Independence Bowl Bid ?
I'm glad we didn't play in Shreveport. Doubt many more would have shown up and Frisco was FUN!
