Re: Colorado back to Big XII
That’s right, Reneau started it and Guice is going to end it. By the time he’s done Tech will be the undisputed worst athletic college in the state, no, the tri-state area. His acceptance of sucking is far greater than just Louisiana.

Great college presidents usually come from the business world, not the academic world. The academy is usually too mired in the past to see anything new.
I am so glad I got to attend Tech during the F.J.Taylor, Joe Aillet, Maxie Lambright, Scotty Robertson era. Dr. Taylor knew the importance of college athletics to the university.

Absolutely.
I have this theory regarding politics in the State of Louisiana.
FJ Taylor scared a lot of the people on the University of Louisiana Board that Tech might actually one day rival the beloved LSU in the state. They knew that they couldn't have that happen so Presidents were selected on how well they would play yes men to the pecking order. Reneau and now Guice aren't going to rock the boat. They know their place. Crisis averted.
These are presidents who will just plod along doing the bare minimum and not try to better the athletics of the university.
Maintenance is what we are selling now.
It is just so many of us fans are tired of maintenance, so there are other things we can be doing.

NEW: A version of the Pac-12 could still survive.
The Mountain West is exploring a reverse merger with Oregon State and Washington State, source confirms to
@FOS
. Many are in favor of taking the Pac-12 name.
It's the most commonly discussed idea rn.
Re: Colorado back to Big XII
Man I would take being back with Fresno and some of those guys in a heart beat. I know the costs would be more than being regional, but some of our best rivalries in recent history have been with MWC teams. Of course we would have to call somebody and send a luxury fruit basket to be considered....:(

I loved to hate Hawaii back then... it was fun to have teams that we actually had some dislike for come play in Ruston. Plus some back and forth in those series as well win/lose wise.

Fresno St. and Hawaii were both fun to hate. We had some very intense games with them and it was ALWAYS entertaining!!!!!!

Throw in Nevada too, especially when they had Colon Kapumpernickle! I didn't like Boazy, but at least I had some respect for them and what they accomplished.
Re: Colorado back to Big XII
Yeah Nevada during the Kap years was good as well. I agree I respected Boise for what they were accomplishing but I would say Fresno was the one I thought we had the best love/hate rivalry with. I wouldn't have a problem being with them again, and every conference will have a better money situation than CUSA. I don't see them being jazzed to add a team as far east as us. They will have a nice geographical footprint and a good competitive league.

On a related note, I live up here in northwest Arkansas. The UofA just released fall enrollment numbers for this year. Their enrollment rose by 3.9% and has increased by 15.7% since 2018. Does Tech ever release any information like this. I would love to know what the enrollment was FJ's last year vs what it is this year, so we could calculate the CAGR.

SMU athletics has raised $100 million in one week after announcing the school will join the ACC next year.
"I was highly confident that we would be able to cover the cost of the transition," SMU's board of trustees chair David Miller said. But he called the # "astounding."
