You are obsessed with a famous Tech grad not being a fan. I explained on page one that he doesn't care about anything outside of his faith. It's not complicated, but some of our fans hold famous grad$ to a higher standard than little known grad$.

I think that that is the exact problem that Dirty Dawg is pointing out. That you guys are holding him to a lower standard than little known grads because of his fame. While being a Tech alum and having strong faith would gain many people's respect on this board (mine included), I haven't ever heard anyone throwing out examples of other Tech grads who have really strong faith for Tech fans to honor as outstanding alumni. The only person close I can think of is Denny Duron, and if he weren't part of some of our greatest football success he probably wouldn't be brought up much.
The point is that we aren't talking about Phil because of his business success, his alumni athlete status, or his faith. We are talking about him because of his fame.

Actually we have talked about all of these.
I have no problem with a Tech Alumn who does not support Tech as long as they have other priorities that don't include another FBS program.
Re: Phil Robertson: From Louisiana Tech to Duck Commander
Well, If not for his faith and connection with Tech, I'd just as soon watch "chutum," or swamp people, or whatever! Personally, since he and his brother were at Tech while I was blessed to be there, I have an interest for more than curiosity. Donno 'bout no standards, 'n stuff.

I was doing some research today and came across this photo of Civil War General Albert Pike:

who I am convinced MUST be kin to our distinguished alum:

Looking at all those quotes, you are quite confused. Where does it show that I hold him to different standards? As detlu pointed out, my point is that others on here who demean alumni that don't have an interest in supporting Tech whether they support another FBS program or not hold him to a different standard. It seems that Phil is the only one that can have other interests than supporting Tech not including other FBS programs and still be considered a good alumnus.

Good point. I expect everyone to give back - maybe that means sending a check, maybe that means telling the young people you know what a great opportunity it is. Maybe it means a football game if that's your thing. It sure doesn't involve supporting any other FBS school.

Did somebody say he was a good alumnus? I didn't, but you implied he was a bad one. I argued your bad point, when I said he doesn't care about supporting Tech because he has other, more important, priorities. It's not complicated.
Re: Phil Robertson: From Louisiana Tech to Duck Commander
Final post on this topic. So there is no misunderstanding. I couldn't care less what Phil Robertson does with his life. I couldn't care less if he ever supports Tech or not. I couldn't care less if he spends every morning during duck season bumping a stump for luck before the ducks fly over over head.(sorry. I'm alliterate) I hold no ill will or consider him less of a person for not supporting Tech. As I've said many times, I'm the last person that can throw that stone.
Re: Phil Robertson: From Louisiana Tech to Duck Commander
This is like a reunion segment of the Real Housewives of Ruston.
Re: Phil Robertson: From Louisiana Tech to Duck Commander
I still haven't seen anything that gives me a reason to praise him on this board. Hunting ducks and having a reality TV show does not make a man great for me. I don't even know why we're even discussing him on here since he hasn't been back to Tech since he left with 2 degrees. If he doesn't want anything to do with Tech, that's his right. I watched one of his shows and that was more than enough for me. All I saw out of that one show was that he gave liberals in favor of gun control a lot of ammunition by carelessly handling a gun. I got mad as hell just watching it.
