The fact that you are not talking about our program, how great it is, and instead are talking about yourself, is detrimental to the program.

[QUOTE=T1;1455319]I'm not saying don't speak your mind, but last year this board made our fan base look ridiculous.../QUOTE]
To the contrary, this board had already grown accustomed to WINNING, based upon our football teams outstanding results in 2011 & 2012. Our fans are passionate and expected similar results in 2013, and didn't get 'em. So yeah, many of us were ready to fire Holtz. THAT'S THE WAY IT WORKS, if you're a D1 coach. Win enough, you stay. Lose too much, you get fired.
Don't make the stupid mistake of thinking Skip Holtz is the only guy in America that can win football games coaching at LA Tech. The two guys before Holtz did it, and there are plenty of talented coaching prospects out there that can do it. So I got NO PROBLEM throwing his butt out on the street if he has another season like 2013.
Also you should, if you don't, differentiate between posts that say your opinion or idea is silly or wrong vs. people attacking you personally. There is a big difference. I disagree with Champ and Tyler all the time but they have never attacked me personally, definitely my opinion, but not me. And I respect both of them for that.
That's it huh, 5 or 6 people? Everyone else was acting like an A-Hole and Moron? Do you think there was a large group of people who disagreed with you and amongst that group some attacked you personally while some respectfully disagreed with you but those people were so rude to you that you now attribute the personal attacks to the entire group, even the ones that weren't personal???????
I guess we will see this weekend how much "damage" has been done to the program. I'm fully expecting 23K and a lot of fun to be had in Ruston. At any rate, I'll be there with the family.
Yes, this is what my problem was. You guys were acting like Colby Cameron and Ryan Higgins should produce similar results, and if they didn't, it had to be the play-calling. And then you discount that Patton and White are gone and so are 4 of Colby's linemen. Plus, the coaching staff changed and different terminology had to be learned. It was like, "We are winners here, so it must be the head coach.. fire him." It was so dumb. Let it be a learning lesson... experience, seniors, continuity, and talent are factors too... not just play-calling.
I never was pro-Holtz, I just knew last year was not his fault. He didn't "destroy our once proud program." It was a massive rebuilding job and y'all discounted that as "excuses."
The damage was done in the offseason... LTAC and ticket sales. It wasn't just this board though, the football team was craptastic and no fun to watch last year. But Holtz has quickly brought the excitement back. The regulars will be there Saturday, which is GREAT news!
Again, you are fighting a straw man here. Not a person on this board expected Colby Cameron numbers out of Ryan Higgins. Not a person. I hope the fact that you are so eager to shout from the mountain tops how right you are after two wins doesn't become a "learning lesson" for you.
Everybody is really excited after wins over North Texas and Lafayette. That alone should tell you that we aren't impossible to please. Coach Holtz is showing us signs of having this ship in the right direction. Let's hope it continues on this trend and at the end of the year we can all agree that he did a good job this year.
People will give him credit when he earns it.
Let's stop acting like last year was totally on lack of talent, newbies, etc. I watched enough Tech football last year to know that the coaching was subpar. Lacking talent at key positions, yes, but there seemed to be nothing done to overcome this. Not many adjustments to speak of, players misused or not used at all, gameplans that were headscratchers (defense vs Army). I think everyone that doubted Holtz had every right to do so based on the evidence that was 2013 Tech football. This year seems to be a different story, but the jury is still out. UNT and ULL, neither of whom can throw a forward pass, aren't the measuring stick. We'll see how we fare in conference. Hopefully we sustain our momentum we have built the last two weeks.
Go to the Florida boards today or the VT boards or Tiggerdroppings at half Saturday night -
That's what real anger and hatred look like -
I think Hogdawg nailed it earlier: If the team sucks, it's the coach's fault. I'll just agree next time.
being new to all this i took offense at what I perceive as Negative, after thread opened on ragun Cajun I saw what real negativity is. Even the Iowa board (Sokol thread) makes us look tame, but with a little more humour. I will continue to look for sunshine but officially not knocking other folks perception--except when they call coach stupid .... other boards the F word seems to be pretty popular when talking about players, coaches and other posters. We defintely have more class.
