Alma Mater means nothing to me since they added all the crap to it and our former AD refused to be a part of it.
I'm not familiar with this. Will you elaborate please?

Not sure how severe most of them may be. We had almost as many walk ons in t-shirts as we had dressed guys. That’s a rough way to start.
Tech’s consistent inability to get the details right is amazing.

I don’t like when these new students/grads yell “baby”. It’s stupid

Smoke had the wrong size pants on and had to do the waste band rollover thingy to keep them up. Not a good look...couldn't even lean on a good performance on the field.
Gotta get our chit together.

I was just joking, knowing it was plausible since we have nothing but empty suits in charge. But, it is true!? Holy moly! :shocked2:

Terrible.
Re: Game Week Tech vs. FIU
Most likely, the students who starting adding “baby” are the same type who would vote to take away the Techster moniker or vote down a minuscule student activity fee.

There are some kids on your lawn…better run em off!
My brother started at Tech in 1994 and I’m pretty sure “baby” was there back then…almost 30 years ago.

Crazy that I never heard it during my time in the early 2000’s.

I started in 2000, they definitely did it when I was a student.

New students? This has been going on for decades now. I know people think that Alma Mater is a sacred song and singing the word "baby" is defiling it, but how many of you or students know the lyrics and sing the lyrics? I would bet less than 5% of fans know it or sing it at all.
Singing "baby" is one of the true natural traditions our students have created and maintained. It is the one part of the song that the majority of students staying for the alma mater participate in. I don't see the Alma Mater as some sacred song that must be purified of any deviations. It was written by one man; this is a tradition created and maintained by our students. We need more traditions like that.
Re: Game Week Tech vs. FIU
Adding "baby" is just plain silly. Who is this "baby," what does it refer to? Whoever started it had to have been in a drunken stupor. It had to have started after I graduated in 1980 because we did not say it. I just ignore it now. But, I don't attend very many games in person now, so I really don't care anyway.

Its not that I think its sacred, but that it takes something solemn and honorific and turns it into Sweet Caroline.
It's cultural degradation, so I guess its no different than anything else.
