and I did some research before contacting Dr. G, seems every university I looked at gives breaks to alum, AND the prices aren't do dang high. To me, if you want Alums to feel a part of the university, you make it so its easy for them to do so, not charge the yazoo out of them to do so

Yeah, because students over run the place early mornings? Honestly, most weekends this spring the traffic there is almost nothing. Some special events have packed a few folks in, but Saturdays and Sundays the place has almost nobody there.
Tech Alumni could be catered too without upsetting the swimming pool crowd.

I would share your research with these individuals too.

I heard a chorus of "Hallelujahs" in the background -
They will quickly become THE BURGER JOINT in Ruston - The Dawg House and Cheeburger-Cheeburger can't hold a candle to them -

Re: Peanut Buckets Coming to DAWGTOWN
I've been meaning to ask if anyone's heard anything about the proposed interchange for I-20 @ Tarbutton Rd? Two or three years ago it was rumored to be in the offing, but that was before the budget in Baton Rouge went totally to heck.

I don't care. Students don't want old folks and kids running around the Lambright.
I also don't know how anyone could think giving money to the athletic foundation gives them the right to get discounts for using student life facilities. They are totally unrelated.
I can only imagine giving a tour to a prospective student:
Prospective Student: Why are all these creepy old men at the intramural center?
Recruiter: Don't mind them. They just like watching college girls jog on the treadmill.
Tech's intramural center should be for Tech students, faculty, and staff only unless others agree to pay big bucks IMO.

It cost near zero to add 3 folks to the people using Lambright, that 1500 would help athletics in a huge way. From the email I received back from Dr. G it sounded like some relief for alums might be considered. Guess I was wrong.

Mrs. TD & I expect to move to Ruston once she retires from teaching in a year or two. I'd do that deal in a heartbeat because I'm probably going to join a club somewhere in town and I'd just as soon give the money to Tech.
I like the idea of adding a discount as a perk to LTAC membership.

Yet it appears our administration will let anyone join if the money is right. Limit it to alumni and charge whatever you want. Why can't alumni be encouraged to live a healthy lifestyle and enjoy some perks of being an alum?
As for creepiness, keep the male English professors out of the sauna and you should be okay. (80's reference there. who gets it?)

I'm all for encouraging alumni to live healthy lifestyles. Offer them discounts to Anytime Fitness, All Hours Fitness, Route 2 Fitness, Planet Fitness, or Crossfit like the alumni association does with hotels and rental cars.
I'm also all for jacking up prices for non-alumni. I just don't agree with offering memberships for any cheaper than we already do. I presume Guice and others in charge at Tech also feel old folks and kids ruin the student experience at the Lambright, hence why they haven't acted on Choudawg's request.
