So, if Pence becomes POTUS say, next year...in January, 2018, and he serves out the present term, runs for election and wins in 2020, can he then run for his re-election in 2024? If so, he could serve as POTUS for 11 years. Would that be legally possible?
I'll have to look it up to confirm, but I think the answer is yes. I think LBJ chose not to run for his second term.
Edit: LBJ only served from 63-64 then was re-elected for another term. He did choose not to run, but could have.
Can a president serve for 10 years?
Answer: A president is limited to serving for 10 years in office. He or she can only be elected to two full terms according to the 22nd amendment to the US Constitution. However, if an individual becomes president through the order of succession, then they are allowed to serve an additional two years.
So no, Pence could not serve two full terms after having served more than 2 years as a successor.
No, I just spoke to him on the phone after he read my post here. I was just asking a general question re: the law covering POTUS terms.
But, PawDawg addressed the question, and based on that, Trump will stay for at least two years of his term. That way Pence will be eligible to finish out this term, plus get two more.
Oh, and yes, it is understood that voters may not want Pence for that long, but I was just asking about the possibilities.
Interesting quote from Thomas Singer:
“How terrifying to think that our politics and our lives today have gotten horribly confused with reality TV, social media, computer and cell phone technology, and their infinite capacity to turn reality into illusion, Self (Jungian) into narcissism.”
And Elizabeth Mika:
“Tyrants identify with other tyrants and find inspiration in their successes, while remaining oblivious to their failures. They recognize and respect power as much as they are envious of and despise its wielders.”
And speaking of tyrants, which historically attack the media first in their quest for autocracy, has Trump already violated the first amendment?

“But Trump's intervention — through last week's tweet and its implied threat that the government would change tax laws to hurt the NFL — could provide the players with a stronger legal basis for a free-speech challenge against the United States, some legal scholars said. Left unchecked, Trump as president could financially compel any number of companies and private entities to do exactly what he wants, they said.”
But the leftist liberal news won't even headline or cover this great job report nor the highest ever stock market.
And swamp, left and right, will start screaming as they don't want Trump to succeed "Making America Great again".

Economic growth (GDP)
3 of 10http://i2.cdn.turner.com/money/dam/a...dp-780x439.jpg
One of the biggest criticisms of Obama's economy is that growth has been sluggish. Historically, the U.S. economy has expanded 3% or more a year, on average.
The Great Recession was a meat-cleaver on the economy. Since then, the U.S. has struggled to grow at much more than 2% a year under President Obama.

Annual GDP Growth During Obama Era
But annual GDP growth never hit 3% under Obama, prompting economists to dub the era a “low-growth” environment. Prior to the 2000s, the U.S. was no stranger to annual GDP growth upward of 3%.
GDP growth rose as high as 2.9% under Obama, but never breached 3% on an annual basis.

SOURCE: Bureau of Economic Analysis
You are comparing Obama’s yearly GDP growth to Trump’s quarterly. It is a little bit harder to average 3% for the year. 3% for a quarter is a low bar and Obama hit it 8 times.
obummer's best year was 2015 with 2.6% growth in GDP. He is the only prez in history to fail to have at least one year of 3% GDP growth. The average from 1969 to 2006 was 3.1%. The US's overall historic average is 3.79% but that is trending down, of course, as more of these sub-3% years get included in the average.
I haven't found a reliable source (yet) that breaks down obummer's quarterly performance....I mean, an actual factual site....but let's take goosey's number. So, out of 32 quarters as prez, obummer had a whole 8 quarters of 3% growth. Wow! 25%. Sounds like J'Mar Smith's completion numbers.
This is how he did it...

Thank you to our fine military and Trump for showing the libs/dems how to fight a war!
Republicans don’t seem to hate debt so much with Trump in charge.
And the leftist anti-American media still won't report these numbers and Obama wanted the Great USA "to settle just for the new poor norm".

PAPER: Turns out Trump DIDN'T ruin America's economy...
Foreign tourism to New York City is set to rise 3.6 percent this year — defying yet another of the many doomsday predictions about Donald Trump’s presidency.
Back in February, the city tourism agency said Trump’s “travel ban and related rhetoric” would mean a drop of 300,000 visitors this year. But the NYC & Co. prophecy proved false.
Of course, other predictions were more dire — particularly those about the stock market.Finance expert Steve Rattner foresaw “a market crash of historic proportions” under a President Trump. Moody’s warned of a “weaker” economy. Many said 2 percent GDP growth was the best that could be hoped for.
Other doomsayers included Mark Cuban, CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin and firms such as Bridgewater Associates and Macroeconomic Advisers. (A less-dishonorable mention goes to Nobel-winning economist Paul Krugman, who at least walked back his doomsaying about “a global recession, with no end in sight,” soon after election night.)
In fact, the Dow has climbed more than 25 percent since Hillary Clinton conceded. And the first two full quarters of Trump’s term both saw growth of 3 percent or more. Oops.
More recently, Trump’s cutbacks of money to help folks sign up for ObamaCare brought warnings that enrollment would surely plummet. Hah! Over the first few days of open enrollment this year, a record number of people signed up, The Hill reported Tuesday.
The first day alone saw 200,000 sign-ups, twice last year’s number, and more than 1 million visited healthcare.gov, versus 750,000 in 2016.
As for all the noise about fascism and tyranny: Trump has scrupulously obeyed the law, even as judges came up with unprecedented legal theories to strike down his “travel ban” executive orders.

According to his twitter, Trump is still waiting on the UCLA players to thank him.
And they should, regardless of their political leanings. Look how long Obama left that veteran in Mexico prison for accidentally bringing a gun across the border. Look at how he didn't intervene on behalf of the guy taken prisoner in North Korea (who was abused and sent back a vegetable only to die). Trump took the time to use whatever leverage he had to save three people that hopefully will come forward and be men.
The left is behaving like undisciplined children again. Trump is President, so they sit in the corner and hold their breath and pout and .....
Interesting that Trump is complaining about needing to be thanked.
And it looks like they had no problem thanking him. I am sure getting back to American and hugging their mommas was the first thing they wanted to do.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nbc...elease-n821111
Ok, but why did Trump tweet: “Do you think the three UCLA Basketball Players will say thank you President Trump? They were headed for 10 years in jail!”?
What was his motivation for such a tweet?
Only a narcissist would tweet something with so little tact.
Sorry, am I being judgemental?
Well, our previous narcissist would have called it a "teachable moment" and had the press fawning all over his ignorance and people fainting at the sight of him
But Trump...hey, this is one I wish he would not have done (there are others). Sometimes I wish he would think before tweeting, but it got him elected so I guess you could say I am wrong here and he is right
OK, here is what I had to do when Obama was elected.
Obama was a tremendous narcissist. One of the biggest I've ever seen. Used to irk me to no end, especially when he gave the ipod to the queen with his photos and speeches on it.
I wanted him out of there...impeached.
But, I had to ask myself, if he was elected to the position by the rest of the country, then am I not being a bigger narcissist to think that I know better than every one else and that my opinion (and millions like me) held more sway than the process that put him in office (greek columns and nose in the air and everything)? And if he were to be removed from office just because others did not like him, wouldn't this be the end of the country as we know it? Do you really think the establishment political class should be able to remove someone from an elected office just because they view him as a danger (when many many others do not)?
Perhaps you should ask yourself these questions, too.
The narcissistic trait itself is not the problem - it is the underlying psychological condition that cause his narcissism, lack of impulse control, lack of empathy and antisocial behaviors that is the problem. All politicians are narcissists.
And this is EXACTLY what I felt about Obama.
Doesn't change my mind.
I don't feel like I need to save everyone from themselves, or that I am smarter and more capable of figuring out what is best for everyone. I think the entire left is projecting itself on Trump, who is no more narcissistic than any other CEO, CFO or business leader I've ever met (and that's been a bunch).
It is not the degree of narcissism that is the issue (though I can’t think of anyone that truly rivals Trump in this regard) - but the disorder that gives rise to the confluence of traits that are typical of NPD under the DSM. Even if Obama was an extreme narcissist, he didn’t have NPD.
Oh, I see.
You are an expert on psychology and need to save all of us that don't see it the way you do. NPD anyone?
I know you have spoken of a book numerous times where all these learned men (and women) discuss Trump and his NPD and how much of a danger he is. Of course, you could also just as likely get as many or more learned men (and women) to say he does not have NPD and is not a danger. And then most of the real learned men and women will tell you that you cannot properly diagnose NPD unless you have had sessions with the patient.
I ignore all the e-mails and links to stuff that say "so and so is really in for it now after so and so said such and such and all their history is revealed" because they are all bogus. I could send you thousands saying Hillary was dying and would be in prison in a few months. Maybe that would work for you.
Yeah, if you read the book they don’t all diagnose him as NPD - some say they would actually need to have him as a patient while others comment that we actually have more material to review than most professionals ever get from a patient from the public record alone - but even those that won’t go as far as making a diagnosis agree at the dangerousness of his behavioral patterns.
Those 3 basketball players are very lucky that Trump is our president. Hussein Obama would have let them die in a chinese prison. He let a marine stay in a Mexican prison for a year and they held him on a bogus charge. Hussein Obama was a worthless president that never did anything except stir up race relations.
How does it feel to be mentally superior all Christian conservatives and have no peers? Have you looked around to see the guys you share values with?

Was at a party last night, stock full of libs (some liberals, and yes, even some libtards) and I was surprised by some of the conversation I heard. There were those diehard libtards who tried to poo-poo any positive talk about what is going on in our country now, and especially Trump. One hates Trump so much he turns red when our president's name is mentioned. He was going nutso last night as friends and fellow libs dared to compliment Trump and give him credit for the improving economy, etc... I asked that fellow if he planned to keep his Trump tax cut or give it back. I made sure to remind him the US Treasury accepts donations. (I'm sure goosey will send his tax cut back, egad! who wants anything from Trump!?)
Anyway, the consensus among my lib friends and acquaintances is things are markedly improving and there's a feeling of optimism in our country now.
(party was kind of boring since my libtard friends were too much in agreement with me and I couldn't stir the pot)

Stock prices are reflecting the probability that corporate tax cuts. Increased profitability without even having to increase productivity.
Corporations are just plain old evil doers. We should just chase them all out of the country and give all the gold we have to the downtrodden and disenfranchised.
Imagine the selfishness of not only keeping what they've worked for and invested in, but also the cold heartedness of sharing those spoils of labor with the folks in their employ that have worked to make them possible.
We should all be like Boxer and just work harder for the common good, while the common good waits for the handout.
Yeah, 1 trillion over 10 years (estimated) assuming old uncle Sam keeps spending like a drunken sailor. Not too bad considering the almost 10 trillion it went up over the last 8.

Black Unemployment Rate Lowest in 17 Years...
Single-family housing starts, permits hit 10-year high...
Silver noticed that the areas where Trump performed best made for an odd map. Trump performed well in parts of the Northeast and industrial Midwest, as well as the South. He performed notably worse out West. Silver looked for variables to try to explain this map. Was it unemployment? Was it religion? Was it gun ownership? Was it rates of immigration? Was it opposition to Obama? Silver found that the single factor that best correlated with Donald Trump’s support in the Republican primaries was that measure I had discovered four years earlier. Areas that supported Trump in the largest numbers were those that made the most Google searches for “nigger.””
Seth Stephens-Davidowitz, Everybody Lies: Big Data, New Data, and What the Internet Can Tell Us About Who We Really Are
Like.
Listening to this audiobook. Can’t say I am surprised by this fact.
Why would somebody besides a rapper or a black comedian do a google search for "nigger"?
The Trump factoid was only one of many interesting things about this book. Most of the book is talking about how looking through anonymous data captured by google and porn sites reveals a more accurate depiction of what people think than surveys because of the various biases and lack of incentive of surveys. With regards to the most recent election, it also talked about how google data better predicted Trump’s victory than the surveys. But, again, the Trump factoids are a very minor part of the book.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/review/...=UTF8&cursor=1
This is all about predictive power of data in its various forms. The stories about American Farrow, sexuality, debunking of many Freud theories, and education were all entertaining aspects of this book.
But, yeah, Trumped tapped into racist sentiment held by a larger percentage of the population than that which was predicted by surveys, and that was critical to his victory. Doesn’t mean that you are racist if you voted for him, but that had a lot to do with why he won.
President Trump has delivered once again! Tax reform has passed the US Senate and it WILL become the law of the land. We'll now be free of the horrible individual mandate in Obamacare. Freedom of choice is truly something for every American to rejoice. What a Christmas gift for us all. Merry Christmas everyone!
Look up some rap lyrics on the Internet. It almost always appears as “nigga” or “niggas”. Besides when people are looking for a rap song, that is not a very useful search term.
The point of the data mining was to look for trends in the data that correlated. Search for the term “nigger” did show the correlation with underperformance of Obama in his elections and they were key districts in key states that swung the Trump election. The data also showed a higher percentage of racism than surveyors expected. Point being that people are far more honest to google than they are to surveyors for at least several reasons.
Another interesting story was that of American Pharoah and how is owner Zayat tried to sell him and buy other horses before he won the triple crown. Zayat hires Seder as a consultant to pick out 5 other horses to buy. After Seder studied all the horses, he cane back to Zayat and said that they could not recommend buying any of the horses and that instead he must do whatever it takes to buy his own horse back from the auction - Seder’s data predicted he was a 99.6% horse. A horse of the year, probably a horse of the decade. This data was not based on pedigree. The book does reveal the two key data points that Seder’s data predicted was relevant. Seder had been collecting all sorts of data on horse for years, BTW and had dissected and measured all sorts of things for past horses and correlated all of these things against performance.
Another interesting antecdote showed that Louisiana women are in one of the top 3 states for women using a particular word in google after typing “I think my husband is ___”
Care to guess what Louisiana women are most likely to type in place of the blank?
gay?
.
But that information doesn’t tell you anything by itself. However, data mining can use that piece of info along with others to actually predict the real rate of same-sex preference among men, which they think is quite a bit higher than the 1.8% that you would get from looking at Facebook data. The real number seems to be closer to 5% in almost all states even though survey evidence would suggest high variation among the states, with Mississippi being one of the lowest around 2%.
