Thanks to whomever made the decision today to cancel. I was able to cancel all reservations for a trip from Oregon and reschedule for October. Tech showed itself to be a responsible organization, most concerned for the safety of its fans, students, athletes and the general public.
folks, everything changes when the State and parishs' begin declaring a state of emergency, a lot more people start getting a say in what is going on and it is much bigger than a football game. GOSHEP begins having a say in this due to a lot of factors that it seems many of you have not even thought of, the decision to postpone may not have came from anyone at either University. This situation is bigger than TECH or aTm, some of you need to step back and try to see the big picture and find someting else to bit%h about, the game has been postponed using the best available information.
We seem to have a lot of folks on here who are weather experts and and are much smarter than everyone else and seem to think that the only people this storm affects are themselves. There is more to it than that, and after reading many of the post on this thread, it is obvious we have some people on the board who do not have a clue, and I will leave it at that.
OK....red dot away if you wish...I can take it.
Really Dwayne? Why in the heck are we declaring a SoE in Claiborne?
I can't understand why we are even having this particular conversation.
A&M folks are LIVID about the decision. Very unhappy.
They certainly have no "motives" in the move. do you understand that the move puts them in a very rough situation? Now they go into the game against the Florida Gators next week having never taken a single snap in this new scheme with new quarterback.
Hate to break it to you, but they were counting on breaking in that offense against us.
It also strips away what WAS a bye week right before their LSU game. That bye week wasn't just a break to get healthy. It was an extra week of gameplanning.
I'm also pretty sure They don't give a crap how many folks were in the stands at Indy stadium. They don't give a crap about ticket sales for OUR home game.
FWIW, I'm not very happy about the decision either. I was ready to get this thing started.... Now the dreaded offseason just got extended by 10 days.
Listen closely....
1. They can afford to lose to Florida.
2. We're better than Florida. (just because you type their name in bold print doesn't mean they're better than us)
3. Losing to LaTech in the first game would be a bad way to start the year.
4. A&M wasn't kicking and screaming about the postponement.
They play at Ole Miss before us. Game planning will be much easier once you get to that point in the season. Also, you sound like a cocky A&M fan (which is why beergut likes your post)...
The game has been postponed. Water under the bridge now. If Isaac tracks NW, there will be water OVER some of the bridges, up in NW Louisiana. The 'cane might track NE and then S'port will be spared and some of you will be screaming, See! wasn't that bad. The game could've been played. Yep! that would be true. But 36 hours to gametime, no one can be 100% certain it would be safe. Would you have preferred that officials waited to postpone the game, perhaps leaving thousands stranded?
It is still just a football game. It is not important in the big scheme of things.
I like your position Sooner. If we can't agree on that, there is no hope for anyone.
Who gives a crap about what A&M folks (or anyone else) are thinking. I can care less who they are playing the week after us. Sometimes I think some People on the board have an identity complex. Lets just be US and try and win some football games and everything takes care of itself......JFW!
In my opinion it was probably the right decision, however, I'm still pissed that the game was postponed. It is most likely that my great seats to this game will be filled by someone other than me and my family. This game has been moved to the youth weekend on Oct 13th. It just so happens that this is the first year my daughter will be hunting deer (she just turned 6 last week) and I put on a youth hunt each year. It will be the 5th year of this hunt and several kids come with most of them being first time hunters.
It is almost impossible to cancel this hunt and disappoint these kids. I'm really disappointed.
Like soccer, deer hunting is a snoozefest. Tech football is exciting.
this thread is just like you would imagine, some people happy and some people not. but they made the right decision, regardless of what the weather in shreveport is like thursday night.
