Geeez. Have our guys taken a nap or something?
Wow......wemt back to work and then next thing I know we are losing......baseball,it's a werid game of momentum. Came on DAWGS!!
We can't hit these fastballs. We're swinging late.
Epic collapse. Wow....
Is blowing a 9-run lead a choke? Asking for a friend.
This game reminded me of the game where we scored 7 runs in the bottom of the 9th inning to beat #3 Mississippi State 13-12 at the Love Shack.

Came down to pitching, as it always does. Say what!? 23 runs scored and I say it was pitching? Yep. Our bullpen failed us miserably today. If we get a decent outing in the middle innings, 4-7th, we win. Then after Ark came back, that Loseke kid was incredible. He was throwing BBs up there for 4+ innings. Bottom line is, they got the pitching they needed, and we didn't. That's baseball.
Not really
No it is not or was not a choke. It was baseball.
They got their bats going and ours got cold because their pitchers (mostly Loseke) were out playing our hitters. Curve balls for 1st pitch strikes and we looked every time. I lost count of the times we looked at 3rd pitch strikes.
All a batter had to do was get the ball up in the air. They did it 5 times. We only did it twice.
Tough loss, but not the end of the world.
Our pitching was mismanaged.
If we were willing to use Sutton and Linck, the time to do it was in the 5th and 6th innings when we were ahead instead of the 8th and 9th when we were behind. Then we could have gone to more reliable relievers to close out the game.
Who was not available? Sutton and Linck both pitched an inning. Miller could have pitched the 7th, Hamilton the 8th, and Harris the 9th.
If Sutton and Linck pitch the 5th and 6th, we're up 10-4 going into the 7th. It made no sense to pitch them after we got behind.
Nate Harris is our best closer. He was not good to go. He threw an inning last night an inning Sunday, and two innings Saturday.
Matt Miller is our next best closer. He had gone both Friday and Sunday.
Sutton and Linck were our best available when he put them in. Nothing says they would have shut them down earlier in the game. Oz knows what he is doing.
Sutton and Linck were available because it was their day to throw in the pen. Burroughs said he expected the Hogs to make a run. They needed to pitch when we're ahead. Might could even have stretched them to 3 innings combined. Miller might have done better starting an inning instead of coming in after that other dude, can't remember his name, couldn't get one out.
We have to win this game after having a 10-1 lead. I would go so far as to say even at the expense of losing one game this weekend.
We can disagree but I would have played it differently.
At the end of the day, it's not the way we had imagined our first loss, but we all knew it was coming eventually. Might as well come to a ranked opponent that we beat the day before. We finish the Arkansas miniseries with a 1-1 split. Not terrible. A good outing vs Wichita State and maybe we can slip into the rankings. Plenty of good things to come with this team. HBTD!
