You're completely off your rocker on this one.

Wow, we live in a frustrating country. Real problems a mile long and our politicians waste time planning kiss ins for gays and chik fil a appreciation days. Good times. It's like arguing about which color paddle we all want to row with when the boat is about to go over a cliff.
Yeh, I saw some BS poll about how all of these young people have a bad view of the church because of their "hatred" toward gays. Something like 18-29 year olds are at 93% on this issue with Christians of that age group at 80%. FIrst of all, how many of these people even consistently go to church? Second of all, I have been member at a few churches and visited many, hardly ever even heard homosexuality discussed. A few sermons here and there just stating it was a sin, but nothing outside of that. Not sure what champ is talking about with all of this money donated to hateful organizations. Not even sure which organizations he is talking about. This is perception over reality, IMO, which is an issue. However, I cant control what people think because every news outlet loves to run stories on some crackpot minister in Kansas who rails on gays or so many dollars going to some organization who once had a member whose mother once said she didnt like gays. It is all too silly for me to keep up with.
Not every sentence in the Bible is open to multiple translation just because there are allegorical stories and some words that can have more than one meaning. As far as I remember, there has never been any proof put forth that the lines that define homosexuality as a sin consist of words that can have another meaning.

Did Officials Run A'fowl' With Threat
Over Exec's Gay Marriage Opinion?
Fast-food chain Chick-fil-A under fire for company chief's gay marriage comments — but with free speech and jobs on line, do threatening big city officials have a drumstick to stand on?- TODD STARNES: Chicago Chick-fil-A Owner Under Fire on Gay Marriage Has Message for Rahm

That gives me hope. These are our kids speaking up for what is right - equality. Sort of like the civil rights movement in the 60's.
LFR:
Chick-fil-A donates money to groups such as Marriage & Family Foundation, Exodus International and the Family Research Council. These groups and others have contributed extensively to the religious hate speech that marginalizes lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. They have spoken out against civil rights for LGBT individuals and have even discouraged anti-bullying campaigns that seek to prevent LGBT teens from taking their own lives.
As a proud father, I will protect my family in any way I can. I have stated earlier in this thread that I am a Christian, I am very much for free speech on both sides, and I choose to spend my money at places that donate to organizations that I believe are on the correct side of Christianity. I have a fundamental difference in my belief system about Gays and Lesbians than most of you on this section of the board. I am not that different than all of you on some issues, though. I may seem very liberal to many of you, because I usually can't resist posting when I click on something in this section that is ridiculous to me. I do avoid it most of the time, though. Sometimes, some of you have the same views that I have:
Fiscal responsibility
Most of our Christian beliefs
Gun ownership
and definitely criminal behavior.
I differ on my Christian belief that the Bible does not speak of Homosexuality, except in the context of promiscuity. Translations and interpretations have changed the meaning that we read now - just like we interpreted the Bible on racial issues at one time. That is why Fundamentalists and Southern Baptists are different than churches in the Northeast. It is a cultural thing for me.
I believe in responsible government spending to help those in need. I do not believe in waste, but I do believe in cleaning it up - not cutting it.
I, actually, think I agree more than I disagree with most of the things stated on here. There are some issues that I will not bend on, though. I think most of you won't bend your beliefs either. I respect that, though. I can discuss things rationally and even learn. On this section, though, it doesn't seem that there are many that want to really discuss different view points. They mostly want to push their view point. I understand that and am probably like most of you again with that. :icon_wink:
So, I am going to go back to football....... I keep saying that and getting drug back into this conversation. This will be it, though. Carry on....... I feel a good about our young generation coming up, though. :D
Go Dawgs! Catch yall later..........
It doesnt really give me hope champ because it just shows me how swayed my generation is by things they see in the media without any firsthand knowledge. Are there a few churches who openly bash homosexuals? Yeh. Is it rampant? No, we just hear about every one of them that does unless preaching that homosexuality is a sin is considered bashing. I dont consider that bashing.
Of course, my home church doesnt take a hard stand on anything, can scantly remember ever hearing anything about gays. However, I have a gay friend from high school who said he was terrified of my home church the few times he went. I could never really get him to tell me what specifically happened. I honestly can barely remember discussing it, and they would probably never discuss it now due to it not wanting to take a hard stand on anything nowadays.
Chik Fil A is some good chicken, gay or not.

Billy Graham defends Chick-fil-A
Some quotes.
Graham praised restaurant founder S. Truett Cathy and son Don Cathy, the company's president, "for their strong stand for the Christian faith." CNN’s Belief Blog: The faith angles behind the biggest stories
"I've known their family for many years and have watched them grow Chick-fil-A into one of the best businesses in America while never compromising their values," Graham said.
"Each generation faces different issues and challenges, but our standard must always be measured by God's word. I appreciate the Cathy family's public support for God's definition of marriage."
On Tuesday, Graham leveled deep criticism at the United States. He compared the country to Sodom and Gomorrah, the Biblical cities synonymous with sin.
"Self-centered indulgence, pride, and a lack of shame over sin are now emblems of the American lifestyle," Graham writes in the open letter released by his organization this week.
He blasts what he sees as efforts to keep references to Jesus out of the public sphere.
"Our society strives to avoid any possibility of offending anyone - except God. Yet the farther we get from God, the more the world spirals out of control," he writes in the letter released Tuesday.
Graham, 93, has preached to untold millions over six decades, and provided counsel to generations of U.S. presidents.

And the last thing I'll say on this is "Champion, you are COMPLETELY OF YOUR ROCKER ON THIS ONE."
Too bad Champion has left the political board, but it's understandable when someone accuses you of being "of (sic) your rocker" because your opinion differs from theirs.
I had not seen the entire quote from Dan Cathy before tonight. I'd missed thelast part of these comments:
“We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.”
Does the biblical definition of the family unit only include first marriages?
Don't you just love the lefty haters. BTW, even Whoopi, of all people, agreed that the mayors and protestors went to far in blasting the owner and franchise. Not that I give a hoot what Hollywood says except for the hypocrisy of it.
Roseanne Barr Apologizes For Blasting CHICK-FIL-A, 'Christian Liars'...
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Roseanne Barr is apologizing for a tweet she sent Wednesday attacking Chick-fil-A, as well as customers of the fast food chain.
“anyone who eats S%#@ Fil-A deserves to get the cancer that is sure to come from eating antibiotic filled tortured chickens 4Christ,” she tweeted,
later adding, “off to grab a s%#@ fil-A sandwich on my way to worshipping Christ, supporting Aipac and war in Iran.”
It's okay, Mav! Good friends with LFR, Tyler, and a lot more on here. I am used to right wingers not agreeing with me. It is where I live and they agree with me on a lot more things. I respect their opinions. I respect everyone's opinions. I am just glad that this whole thing was blown up so big. It is about time that Gay rights became a TRUE civil rights issue. When you have mayors and governors speaking out, it is a good thing for civil rights. There will be a battle ahead and I will stand up for my children in a contructive way.
Oh, and I am a little "off my rocker" on some things. Just not on this one LFR. Besides, who wants to share a rocker with everyone else?
