Interesting, why do you believe that blog but not what we are saying? Where did the author get his numbers?

My "speculation" is that the WAC is better than the Sun Belt and will stay better for the next few years!
The reason the Predictor rankings are considered more accurate for head-to-head games is that point margins are fully considered in results. The Sagarin (and all other) BC$BS rankings can't use point margins at all. Sagarin's regular rating is a blend of his Predictor and BC$ ratings.
In this type of comparison anything much over 60% is domination, so a 66%-plus rating is complete domination. I will say that the SBC has improved as this same comparison in 2004 or 2005 would have probably been closer to a 70% win percentage for the WAC.
Hello Bulldogs, fascinated by the thread. I am a Troy fan. For what it is worth (and that ain't sayin a whole lot) I do think the WAC is quite a bit ahead of the conference as a whole. With that said, do I think certain teams in the conference are making good progress........of course I do. The Troy program is really doing pretty well at this point and I like our chances over the next few years to make our team more known. Currently it is a little difficult for us to schedule teams OOC to come to Troy to play given our national TV habits. I think that is a good thing but till then the play anyone any where seems to be our theme. It might be a tough year for us with a new QB and all but I think we will do alright even though we do play Ohio State, LSU, and Oklahoma State on the road along with a pretty good FAU team this year. Opening the season on the road at MTSU may even be a little tricky but heck it should be fun. As to the original parts of this thread I hope it does help the BELT to have a next in line agreement but even with it we would still have been home with the 8-4 mark last year.
Good luck to LaTech and who knows maybe in a few it will make sense to be in the BELT or at least a conference with a different name with us.
The Belt being relatively new at football was not too good a few years ago and now it is probably improving faster than other conferences. (A friend in school once told me that since he was last in the class that he knew he was not going to down and might just go up.) Well the Belt did pass the MAC this past year and is gaining on others. If you look at Phil Steele and the ratings of players recruited anyone can see that the top Belt teams are matching if not passing most of the middle of pack non BCS conference teams. I said in my original post that I thought the WAC was quite a bit a head, well by history yes. I do think if not this year in a couple the matches between teams would be closer than most would think. With that said, we as a conference are not there yet.
It seems to me the logical place for LaTech in future would not be in the WAC. In about 2-4 years I see some realignment occuring and I would not be surprised to see the Belt be a viable option for LaTech if things continue as they are. The Belt split with C-USA this past year in football and that (ain't bad) for some historically bottom dwellers. It is almost impossible to predict what will happen in college football. Heck if you had told me that Brett Favre might be in another uniform next year I would have said you were crazy. Anyway my point is this, Troy and some others (this year particularly FAU) would give most WAC teams a good go for it............particularly if they came to Troy on national TV. I do think MTSU and maybe ARK St. might not be to far back with the unknown WKU. Some think that NT will be rising fast with Dodge there, I just don't think he will stick around too long. As to Troy we are lucky to have our coach. He is probably not going anywhere and LB as we call him has done a really good job at putting Troy on the map.
Again good luck to LaTech this coming year.
Well, I see the Belch fans are out in full force spreading their typical blind zeal on Louisiana Tech's messageboard. Man, I'm sorry Bulldog fans that you have to take this crap from fans of an inferior conference with member schools that are inferior in budgets, inferior in talent, and inferior in presence.
Everyone knows the Belch is the worst conference in Division 1 history. Everyone knows that even the best in that God-awful conference would get systematically dismantled by Boise, Hawaii, Fresno, and possibly Nevada. The only teams that the Suck Belch teams could remotely compete with are the teams that left them behind to sit in the @ss-end of the WAC. I don't blame Utah State, New Mexico State, or Idaho for leaving. At least they play in a better conference now.
I think it's funny that these Belch fans insist on making their presence known to you guys. They aren't happy unless La Tech is miserable. It's the biggest case of schadenfreude you ever did see. And as I know personally many of those Belch fans are two-faced anyways. I find it ironic that the same MTSU fans that praised Louisiana Tech's women's basketball team last winter are now laughing at La Tech because they may have things not going their way. Can't be too surprised. I know from personal experience how people at MTSU can pretend to be on your side but would just as soon see you take a walk or die as to be seen in their presence again.
You Belch fans should be ashamed of yourselves! You need to quit worrying about what Louisiana Tech does and worry about why the crap your pathetic league still can't beat a real opponent, why your teams are always getting b!tch-slapped by the FCS McNeese States, SEMO's, Western Kentuckys, and Jacksonville States of the world, why none of your teams can go to a real bowl game, and why none of your teams can't even sniff the Top 25 much less crack it!
Congrats Belch fans on your alternate bowl invitations. I'm sure the whole world is looking forward to watching the SEC #9 seed take on a 6-6 Belch team. It just oozes with excitement! :icon_roll:
And just as you Belch fans are content with mimimal progress from a fat and lazy commissioner, I'm sure the La Tech fans are just as content continuing to strive for excellence in a real conference instead of your league of inbred 1-A wannabes.
Peace out!
