No, but the first Walgreen's outside of Chicago literally put several local pharmacies out of business in Hot Springs in the 1960s, including the Rexall store owned by our family.

I've always wondered why almost every Walgreens I ever see has a CVS across the street. I don't see why they always end up in the same places. I assume it's on purpose (by one or the other), but I can't figure out why.

Why?

If there is already a Walgreens sitting there, does CVS think they can get some spillover RX traffic? Or vice versa? Or are they trying to drive the other one out of business? Does that work? Does it help both stores by making that intersection a "RX district" the way you'd have a bar district or museum district?

Could it be like Wendy's original plan? They always located a Wendy's in sight of a McDonald's franchise.

One company does a lot of research to figure out the prime location for the store, the other copies. Traffic going each way on the street favors the one that is on the right side of the road because it is more convenient.

Then, after all of that time and money spent, the customers go to Waltz's and Mitchell's because those 2 pharmacies can get medicine ready in less than an hour. That is the funny part.

Glad the new Eskamoe's is open at the Malone Town Center (North Village) -- love dat frozen custard!!

Heard that a "reliable" source said we are getting a Cracker Barrel. Does anyone know anything about this?
