Good luck raising the money, fellow Dawgs, because it would be a shame if we couldn't get the BOP to San Diego. I'd pitch in like I have in the past, but right now, my mission is to just have food on the table... Next year, hopefully we're sending the BOP to another bowl, and I'd HOPE we don't have this issue, but if we do, I'll be much better able to throw some money into the hat.
Most big schools do allocate athletic expenses ($100K, $200K, etc.) for spirit groups. This needs to be built into the Tech athletic budget on an annual basis so it is not an issue.

Arkansas athletics allocate over $800k on their spirit groups.

Most updated information:
Robken has been in meetings all morning trying to get an exact number of members we can take. Actual facts from this meeting:
The bowl gives $750,000 to the WAC and the WAC gives Tech $375,000 for bowl expenses. From that the athletic department is trying to secure two charter flights at the cost of $110,000 each - so that's 220,000 of the budget. If things workout for chartering two planes: each flight has 175 seats - 210 are for the football team, 10 for Dr. Reneau and company, 15 for cheer - leaving 115 for band. Out of that 115, eight are directors, staff, and admin, leaving 107 playing members - a lot better than the initial projection of 50 playing members and half staff, however, we still need help to try to raise funds for an additional 25 members that are able and willing to participate. We would need to raise about 20-25,000 to take the whole band.
Please update the "actual facts" with correct information posted in this thread plus some more.
$375K-$400K is Tech's actual payment from the WAC for a bowl appearance.
The WAC pays for bowl team travel party transportation expenses for 185 people. That would take care of at least one charter plane.

The alumni association has set up a Band Travel Account. The goal is to have this account and fundraise for it, so Tech is never in this situation again. (football and basketball postseason)
If you would like to make a donation you can contact Lisa Smith at the Alumni Center at 318-255-7950.
Thank you all who have expressed support for the Band of Pride, thank you for any and all donations. It would be greatly appreciated.
Short and to the point.

Re: Band of Pride Fundraiser
Is their a minimum donation? (I'm not trying to be cheap, I'm just curious because there's no way I can dish out $1,000 because I'd like to eat sometime in the next two months.)

Whatever you can give will be fine. Plus, it should be tax deductible through the Alumni Association!
