That is what happens when you reopen the economy after supply disruptions. Would you rather not have an economic recovery?

The dumbass you voted for created the "supply disruptions". There is no economic recovery. It's tanking!

How did Biden do that? He wasn’t president last year.

He proudly cut fuel supplies IMMEDIATELY. There was never a fuel supply disruption in 2020 and that was NOT because of a lack of travel.

Cheney’s demotion was all about the leadership of the Republican Party choosing denialism over reality.

The irony is you and the democratic party spent 30+ million on a special prosecutor to look into Trump collusion with Russia and screeched for 4 years and came up empty. They said Trump incited Jan 6th riot, yet nothing is done to Maxine Watters, and many other democratic members of Congress who said much worse and nothing happened. These are facts.. and to deny them is lying..
Why do you support Barbara Boxer and Eric Swallwell keeping their committee positions when they were compromised?

More data for you. According to CDC only 10 states have vaccinated less than half of their adult population:
Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wyoming.
Idaho is 81% white.
Wyoming is 92% white.

Low vaccination rates correlate more closely to election denialism.
That's because New Yorkers are scared to death their Governor or city mayors will get them freaking killed.
But here in Texas where most of the state thinks the election was definitely stolen:
In Texas, 12,162,473 people or 41% of the state has received at least one dose.

It’s Biden/Harris/DNC and the liberal arse media that’s in denial of all of the real and terrible crises happening because of the current zero leadership in the WH.

Speaking of which...
during the last three months of Trump's admin a grand total of 47 illegals were released into the country (that's 47 too many, but...), compared to Biden's first three months where the number has topped 62,000.
But, this belongs on the Immigration thread.

We are talking about election denialism correlating with vaccine refusal.
And there is no such thing as being over educated. We should all strive to learn more throughout life. Double downing on stupidity is what causes Trumpism.

Also, the difference between education/learning and school/indoctrination should be considered.

Re: Covid - 19 - Louisiana Edition
A return to restrictions, lockdowns, mandated masks???? Guvnar JBE is having a conference call with health/community leaders across the state or had one as it might be concluded by now. There are spikes in positive cases. There have been 6,800 new cases and 20 new deaths across the state.

Re: Covid - 19 - Louisiana Edition
They can lock things down if they want. My profession and similar will not work, which will shut down banking all together. We were asked to appraise properties using exterior only inspections. We refused because you can’t certify that the inside of the house is of any specific condition or quality without personally seeing it. The banks relented and told customers that they could only complete home purchases or refi’s with proper appraisals and inspections. We never missed a day and we haven’t been sick. Have not heard a word from banks that we were connected to any customer for contact tracing. Just be smart. Don’t shut down.

Re: Covid - 19 - Louisiana Edition
Probably true across the state as well, but access to public buildings in Natchitoches requires a mask.

Re: Covid - 19 - Louisiana Edition
Infection and hospitalization numbers decreased every day last week. Did anyone see an article or news report celebrating this? Not sure what is going to happen to numbers all over the south with the hurricane.

Our governor had already made up his mind to extend masking. He loves to think he is pushing people around. It's a leftist democrat thing.

My wife has a 1st cousin who had to evacuate to Shreveport from NOLA due to Ida. She just tested positive for Covid.. She contracted Covid back in Feb.. got the vaccine in May/June and now contracted it again.. If she didn't have bad luck, she wouldn't have any...

Fixed it for you above.
Hopefully she won't get as sick as many who have not had the shots. This seems to be the case with most of those I know. BTW, lots of false positives again this go round.

Re: Covid - 19 - Louisiana Edition
As of this afternoon, very latest numbers. Across Louisiana 25% of regular hospital beds are available...empty, ready for a patient, and 18% of ICU beds are available. There was a brief time period, maybe 3 weeks to a month, when Louisiana was at 100%+ capacity for beds, but that passed and now for going on a month there have been, and are, beds available. This should be welcomed good news for everyone!

Re: Covid - 19 - Louisiana Edition
Fatality rate since the inception of the China virus pandemic in Louisiana is 1.87%. That's the official number. That's the percentage of those infected.
Seems low to me...not that I want it to be higher...but, with all the lockdowns and shutdowns and cancellations, wrecking the economy, looks like a major over-reaction to me. Especially given that the lion's share of the deaths had other circumstances connected to them, and those folks were living on borrowed time as it was.
-
Re: Covid - 19 - Louisiana Edition
Rate would have been higher if you pushed the hospitals over capacity. We saw that play out in other parts of the world.

A doctor friend of mine says the infection rate is MUCH higher. A lot of clinics don’t report their numbers properly or at all. Says beyond that, a lot of folks never get tested, they just tough it out.
Of course, that means the death rates (as a percentage) are much lower. The official death numbers will certainly be revised up over the next few years (as they are with the flu).
-
Re: Covid - 19 - Louisiana Edition
Does anyone get the flu anymore?

Yep! the REAL fatality rate is much lower. As you said, we will never know how many people actually have been infected, but in Louisiana, it is higher than the officially reported 734K. Some (many?) of the deaths attributed to the China virus had nothing to do with the virus itself, and we will probably never know that accurate number either. I don't agree the numbers will "certainly" be revised up. More likely they will go down.
Last week my wife felt "puny," had a little sore throat and then ran a low-grade fever, it spiked briefly at 100F, but dropped. She felt bad, coughed some, and then the next day, back to normal. She attributed it to allergies, and there are things in bloom in the fall. She did not dash out to get tested for China virus. She is fully vaxxed. But now some of our friends are saying she was infected, but because of being vaxxed and her general overall great health, it had little effect. We don't know...and frankly, don't care.
There is a hysteria which has attached to the pandemic causing otherwise rational people to say and do strange things.

Re: Covid - 19 - Louisiana Edition
More positive news this morning across the state. Trends remain encouraging, so much so, that they announced this would be the last Monday morning "emergency" teleconference unless things turn sour again. The crisis has passed re: hospital bed availability and staff workloads. Trends on new cases are also encouraging, as are the severity of the cases.
Everyone, regardless of your political leanings and your personal views on vax and mask mandates, pro or con, should welcome this good news.
