Peeve of the day.. Dumbass head coaches.
referees that call late hit out of bounds on plays where the player was not clearly out of bounds before the hit was made.
i propose a rule change: paint the entire length of the sideline 12 inches wide. if any part of the player's body is still inside the outer edge of the stripe, a hit is legal. you can't expect a defensive player to be watching the runner's feet when trying to make a play on the sideline.
Yeah, if you're tangled up, sometimes you are going to fall down. I understand why they are strict on the sidelines calls, but sometimes it's over the top.
Maybe our guys are still being shown the tape of when Patton faked going out and then kept running against A&M in 2012 and they're just careful.
My peeve is message board trolling and the resulting touchiness anytime a fan from an opposing team posts.
We don't have to kiss up to anyone, and we don't have to accept smack talk here, but good grief. Sometimes we really pile on. And I really wish some Tech fans would just stop posting on the ULL and Sunbelt boards. Why is that worth doing?
Who do you feel that we piled on? There is certainly an accepted way to enter an opposing forum if one chooses to do that. Starting a thread with compliments (no condescension please) and explanations of why they are here usually works out well. Even some who come over to flame are accepted as great fans of other schools.
People like Statboy are usually given a lot of rope, but it doesn't take long for them to go from a fan of another school to a hater of LaTech.
Okay this is a whole football season peeve. Why doesn't our official web site publish a numerical roster? I sometimes make one from the alphabetical one but it takes a lot of time. When you're at a game or watching on TV you normally look at a number you're not familiar with and want to know who it is quickly. But no, you have to scroll a long list until you see his number. Do then even have a numerical roster in the program?
Houston Techsan - Just go to the roster and click on the "No." column header and it sorts by number. You can sort the roster by Number, Height, Weight, Year and Position.
People that drive with highbeams on through fog, especially thick fog.
Reading this week that they're for real going to demolish Pearce, Graham, and Adams dorms. Let's just get rid of any building on campus that has character. Adams parlor used to be the place for fancy meetings, receptions, etc. i am really bummed about the circle porch going away. I think we should just go ahead and get it over with and tear down Keeny, Bogard, and Howard. Did i miss something?
Oh, and AD's chewing/chomping/smacking on their gum with mouth open half the time on national TV during an awards ceremony.
It peeves me that there are some ignorant sports announcers who are unfamiliar with Louisiana Tech football and think that "Turner" is Paul Turner's middle name and that "the-LSU-transfer" is his last name.
100% agreement. Tis a shame such historic buildings can't be saved. Especially given the architecture style likely to replace them....gag!
As for rude people chewing gum with their mouths open.....sheesh! Very prevalent among football coaches too. But, also, common courtesy and decency isn't being taught anymore. We had to be asked to move to another table while trying to dine out, teenagers noisily smacking their food... I mean LOUDLY! Funny thing, even though we didn't say anything, nor even make eye-contact, the parents of those kids got all huffy as we were moving. Guess they knew why we asked to move, yet they still will not instruct their offspring how to chew properly. It's everyone else's fault...
Hot weather, in December, when I plan to hunt in the morning.
The ugliest old building they finally decided to tear down and then replaced it with a look a like. Hale Hall was a much despised dormitory by all those I knew that had to live there. It literally stunk. It did have nice floor decorations where thousands of cigarette butts had been stomped out. I thought Adams had some charm, but honestly can't remember Pearce or Graham. I thought they were the 1950's dorms up by California. Wasn't Dudley in the same style as Adams. I see they now list Adams on the map as having classrooms . There was a cafeteria there at one time. Carson-Taylor is also 1950s ugly. I guess it's just too big to tear down. Champ967 would have probably wanted to preserve the old barracks dorm right across the street from Tolliver.
Razing carson-taylor wouldn't bother me nearly as much as adams or the other two dorms. But it's the loss of the old architecture that bothers me. CT and Graham, even though i lived there and it saddens me for that reason, are both plain and "modern" for their time. But the dudley circle dorms have character and architecture that fits in with keeny, bogard, howard, etc.--the orignal look if the campus. i wonder why they chose to keep dudley. It should be in same shape as the others. There used to be a women's gym between dudley and adams. Is it still there and in use? I'm guessing not.
Emerging from a local eatery to find a car parked directly behind me in the center of the driving lane and therein preventing my departure from said eatery. Lord help these people who don't know the difference between a Parkin space and a parking lot. I would hate for any cars to be damaged should they walk out into oncoming traffic because they don't recognize what a road is.
Fixed it!
You'll see fewer posts from LSU Tigers on Scout in News Feed
The Graduate Office is a huge mess of frustrating irrelevant red tape. Also, it's probably too much to ask for them to extend deadlines a few days since the university is closing for half of next week.
I see little reason to limit that to just the Graduate Office.
people who think they know. sometimes, i am one of those people, which is also a peeve of mine.
I see, and I follow what you are saying now.
I hate bureaucracy but I think it'd be something where I'd come in with a plan to fix it and two years later I'd have become the thing I hate
What I'll never understand is.... how anyone with any common sense or dignity could even think about voting for Hillary!!??
Ron Swanson is the government we need but not the one we deserve.
When every thread, no matter how trivial, gets turned toward political discussions when we have a thread for that.
Why can't we have logo shirts with JUST the State T.
I can't stand the LA(State T)ech crap.
Now even adidas is shoving it down our throats.
One day we'll get an administration that understands what good branding and design is
When the customer service rep, still standing at the counter, says, "I'm off the clock, sorry."
Where I have worked, that would be followed by, "You're fired."
Concentration. Errr, consternation.
Whatever.
Like when it's midnight and you can't poop.
Knowing there are books I want to read, but not remembering what they are.
Books adopting movie poster for their cover.
Having to cut the crust off of my kids sandwich bread. It's all bread, just eat it!
Service departments that try to take advantage of women (my wife) by trying to sell them things they don't need. Needless to say, the service manager at the Ford dealership in Shreveport will probably run and hide in his office the next time he sees my car pull in.
Yeah, my daughters are already leery of oil change places for forcing unneeded things like air filters and such. Warned them years ago to never buy more than I instructed. It's amazing that some of these guys will take advantage of people.
Reminds me of a peeve post I saw on FB this week about the "services" offered to flood victims. Slight paraphrase... "To those who are offering sympathy and services to flood victims at regular prices during this difficult time..."
I had just seen a post from a guy I know who was hawking business for Serve Pro.
Apple not thinking about battery life until after they push their update. First time for me.
I hate it when the spring game is before tax day, though that's normally what happens. But this year the city of Washington DC observes Emancipation Day (which is actually Saturday the 16th) on Friday April 15th. It's a local holiday, not Federal but because they observe it, all the Federal offices in DC are closed so Tax Day is Monday April 18th.
If not for that, I'd be there. I know some folks appreciate the extra time to procrastinate on doing their taxes, but it means four more days of work for me and my staff. And I miss a spring game I would have gone to. It just doesn't seem right that one city should hold that kind of sway over the rest of the country.
It doesn't matter which line I get in. The person infront of me or the person in front of that person is going to have some kind of ordeal!!!! Never fails!!

BEES!!!
Gout
Biting the inside of your cheek.
Then it swells up and you keep biting it.
Awful.
T-shirts that have the tag on the side. Mostly just the tags. Always stabbing my side because the material used sucks.
Apple's randomization algorithm in iTunes and music app on iPhone. I don't want to hear all 6 songs I have of one artist back to back to back to back to back to back.
People who can afford $150 dress shirts (yes I'm jealous) who don't wear a $10 undershirt and apparently don't use antiperspirant. #keepyourarmsdown
I've noticed I'm moving more and more to buying the non-name brand stuff since the name is all you pay for. For example, I saw a very nice tie that actually fit me and looked good on me at Chanel's main store in Paris. It cost roughly $195. FOR A TIE. I just laughed as the people I was there with finished up their purchase. Go shopping in Shreveport two weeks later, I find the same tie in design, pattern, material, everything but name. Cost $20.
The person at the check out counter .....after several items have been checked...remembers they forgot something that is all the way at the rear of the store!!
took my kids to their first concert. We brought along their shooting muffs since we had floor seats and it was really loud. By the end, they had the muffs off and I wished they fit me. I'm turning into my dad!
Young clerk at store (as in high school age) the other day put the ringing phone on hold, then casually said, "The customer in front of me is more important than the one on the phone."
I about fell out. . . . after I thanked him.
As an aside, For King and Country was an amazing show. They did a Q&A before with those who paid extra to attend. Great time with family!
Their family story is incredible. Came here from Australia as kids and struggled through a ton to get where they are.
Peeve.....Clinton and Obama...need I say more!!??
Tech's websites. :((
Not responsive, Broken links, cluttered, way too many objects on a page, and advertising that should anger the advertiser. (Bunched up with other ads, so no visibility)
They could recruit some first year comp sci folks, self hosted Wordpress, and have websites that are 15 times better than they have now. It's 2016, not 2000.
- students who wear lsu shit while taking pics that they know Tech will use for pub
- people who put pics of LaTech students wearing lsu shit on the internet
- basketball website celebrating the birthday of a guy who chose to leave LaTech to finish at Oregon
My roommate (who graduated with me a few years ago) is trying to get his MSEE at Tech.
Turns out Tech doesn't offer half the classes they say they do, which are listed as core classes for the degree. No one will answer why this is, and there is ZERO accountability.
And you can't check BOSS, because it's an embarrassing blight on the school that was invented for a punchcard computer.
New stadium facilities are nice, but we HAVE TO FIX THESE INSTITUTIONAL FAILINGS. It's shameful that my alma mater refuses to listen to common sense in so many crucial areas.
