I thought it was okay, just they need to separate the orange and blue with the white. Putting those together throws the whole visual off - dark, dark, bright should be dark bright dark bright.

Mr. Matusz was certain he could make one and kept getting farther away.

Right field near the warning track, about 30 feet from the foul pole towards center. I'll agree it's a long shot, but I've had to pay out on this bet a few times. One guy made three.

Three weeks tomorrow. Nobody has really noticed or said anything. I didn't use a spit cup very often so maybe my habit wasn't that noticable. It's still tough and a little encouragement would help.:icon_wink:
Doing sunflower seeds a little, but the salt can't be much better for me than the nicotine was. I've got to get a handle on the weight gain issue. Even though I feel better, I've gained a few in the last few weeks.

Congrats my friend. You are well on your way. I chew gum a lot now. Perhaps that is a good alternative. Also, tic tacs.

Congrats!
At least the sunflower seeds won't rape and pillage your gums and throat like chewing tobacco will.
My grandfather was a smoker until the 60s or 70s. He worked shifts, and he got home after a 3-11 one night, out of cigarettes. There were no 24-hour convenience stores at that time and place, and his craving kept him up all night. True to his character, instead of buying cigs when the shops opened, he got pissed! He was NOT going to let something have that much control over him!
Unfortunately, he switched to chewing tobacco, which eventually led to the throat cancer that killed him at a fairly young (considering his otherwise good health and activity level) age of 77.

Interesting. I never thought about it being a control thing. Wow that is scary!
Several years ago I forgot my snuff going to the duck blind and I was the only dipper in the group. I walked back to the four wheeler, rode to the camp, and got my snuff. Missed the first hour of shooting time. The stuff I had to walk through to get in and out of the blind was undescribable. 6" of water and 30" of mud. It was tough! I got my nicotine fix though.:o

Watching Mythbusters tackle the idiom "When S*** hits the fan" with a vertical fan. Maybe I am over-thinking this but isn't the idiom usually referring to a level of S that is rising and eventually hits a ceiling fan?

"Lifestyle" is in there, so why the heck not include "ginormous."
Although, I struggle with the word "ginormous," as it shares a phoneme with "vagina." But, that actually accentuates the poeticism of "ginormous mangina," which is a surprisingly handy phrase.

1. Drove to the store to get a 9v battery.
2. Put the new battery in the electronic device and found that it was also dead.
3. Decided to read the instructions to the device (carbon monoxide detector) and learned that it makes the same "chirp" sound to warn that you are in danger of dying from Co poisoning as a typical smoke detector makes to let you know your battery is weak.
4. I opened the vent on the fireplace and now I have a spare 9v battery.

"The expression [the s*** hits the fan] is related to, and may well derive from, an old joke. A man in a crowded bar needed to defecate but couldn't find a bathroom, so he went upstairs and used a hole in the floor. Returning, he found everyone had gone except the bartender, who was cowering behind the bar. When the man asked what had happened, the bartender replied, 'Where were you when the s*** hit the fan?' I volunteered to help clean up WMHS stadium in preparation for our little league football championships being held there today.
1. I will now be more aware of taking my own trash out after the game.
2. The waste is amazing! Maybe I'm old fashion, but I don't buy a kid a $3 drink unless they plan on drinking it or taking home what's left. I estimate that 1/3 of drinks purchased are thrown away.

It's amazing how many souvenir cups are left in the stands after Tech games. I stayed after one game and picked a bunch up. I got over 30 without having to leave the section I was in. Took them home, washed them (a few times) and now I have a nice supply of Tech cups!

I quit using them for tea because I was getting staining that made them look gross. But I always have 2 or 3 of them around the house with water in them. Probably the most practical thing I learned at OTS was the importance of staying well hydrated. :D

So I was a bit bored and decided to go check out a movie. I don't have cable or even much of a TV, so I miss nearly all of the previews and decided I wouldn't mind seeing a science fiction thriller. I don't know if I've ever said anything more wrong in my life than when I said, "I would like a ticket to Skyline at 4:30, please." I very much did not want a ticket to see Skyline.
To say it sucked is an insult to the quality of all movies which have sucked before.

Re: Comments That Don't Warrant A Thread
Hung out with my brother's family this last weekend. His wife is a little younger than he is (and he is younger than me). I guess she graduated from high school around 2002.
So they've got pandora playing on their tv in the background and we were kind of playing name that tune. A Dr. Dre song came on (I think it was Dre Day) and I figured it out first. I said, "yeah that is from The Chronic." My sister-in-law says "oh, you mean the old Chronic, all the songs I know are from the new Chronic."
Several layers of irony/amusement working here.
1. Former SBC missionary/seminary grad debating Dr Dre albums with a former sorority girl. This is like a ULM fan and an LSU fan debating nuclear physics.
2. My brother pointed out that even though he knew we were talking about cds, it was unnerving to hear his wife and brother comparing the old chronic to the new chronic.
3. I felt old.

Don't like it? Then go out into the world and make your own way! Our family dogs, both of 'em, tried it. After a week they were back begging at the door.
What happened, I asked?
They said: well, we found a dead deer and then had to fight a pack of coyotes for it...we lost. And, there are cars everywhere out there. Nearly got run over several times! Can we please come back? We'll never complain about the Kibbles-n-Bits again, we promise!
They are both, at this moment, curled up together on a thick rug next to the fire.
Damn dogs!
Ya gotta luv 'em!

Re: Comments That Don't Warrant A Thread
So I've gotten involved in volunteering some time at a few local schools around here. Today I took some vacation time to hang out with a Jr. High science class and launch 2L bottle rockets. I bought a PVC made launch pad on ebay. The kids built their rockets with a (fictional) budget with the purpose of keeping it in the air as long as possible. Part of that budget was PSI in the bottle, so the more you spent on materials the less pressure you got in the bottle.
It was fun to see their different ideas. This was their first experience in dealing with a budget and having to plan out a project ahead of time.

It was not fun and not easy. I really, really hated it.
I am holding interviews this week to refill this position. It is still difficult, but a lot more pleasant.
The feds may still be adding jobs, but there are an awful LOT of highly qualified folks desperate for work from the municipal and non-profit sectors .

How is one told they do not have enough ID on them to take a test that this person paid $250 to take when they have more than enough ID on them to get a drivers license renewed?
