not sure what your quote about basketball scheduling had to do with academics, but I'm listening......

My quote was not about basketball scheduling, it was about your team not providing a worthy opponent, not showing up, not (shall I go on?)...
My use of the word "proof," I suppose, was best applied to athletics, but this latest failure to compete on ULM's part is an "example" of its inadequacy/failure to keep up in the other things I mentioned, including academics. Now, if you want "proof" of ULM's lagging in academics, we can talk about the respective universities' research statuses. I'm listening...:D

They got an Ohio team that brought no one and an NLU team that didn't bring many and, probably was a quick day trip. It was a failure of epic proportions. Now, they are talking about a hotel tax to help save it. IDIOTS! All they need to do is change the committee and make some improvements. If they could change to a CUSA tie-in, they would likely have a more regional team vs. a team that would travel. Instead, they want the last SEC team and can't even get that one. A LOT needs to change to make that bowl generate help for SBC, but it ALL starts with changing the committee and their tie-ins.
They will never be smart enough to figure that out!

You're on target here with this post. These Bowl members have one thing that we don't know about. That is they know more than we (the sports public) about running a bowl - "we've been doing this for long time"...I say, how's that working out for you ?
My $$$ and support are no longer in any Shreveport endeavor. Like they'll really miss me and my family anyway...I go to Allen Tx. now to watch the Allen Americans play hockey. Shopping is now done in Dallas' Northpark Mall and the Galleria. Texas Motor Speedway in April and November. This year we're going to the Cotton Bowl to watch La. Tech and Army and all the other home games in Ruston. When I fly - I'll be using the Longview Airport - much, much cheaper...I'm truly now an official Shreveporter. After many years of trying to support sports in this town, I have now fallen in line like the majority of our citizens to what they call "Apathy" for anything local requiring attendance over a season...I will now be proud of what other cities have built !:icon_wink:

Don't blame you one bit. How does it go? "Until something changes, it will stay the same"?

In theory, it is supposed to bring in visitors to the region, which helps the region's economy. That's why they support the bowl game, even if their team isn't involved.
All Tech fans don't live in North Louisiana. The "visitor" argument does not apply to Tech.
Have you tried getting a hotel room in Ruston on game day?
How many out of state license plates can you spot around JAS on gameday? You think they fill up their tank in Louisiana?
If Tech fans don't bring tax revenue on gameday why was Ruston so upset about the A&M game moved to Shreveport?
Indy bowl people are not business people they are "good ole boys" or politians.

But, you started this line of conversation by saying Tech wouldn't play ULM in anything. I simply responded by saying that we recently played you in men's basketball, but your team didn't play back--and so the conversation went on.
Anyway--glad to see a NLULM Indianhawk with a sense of humor. You might want to give some pointers to that "mel" chick. :D

That could definitely explain their stupidity.

Champion110 - "Until something changes, it will stay the same" ? Great answer !
Those in charge don't want change, they know what's best. We'll never amount to much with there attitude - sports wise. So be it - they can do it there way and I'll do it my way. I have one question to these "guru's" how does a city grow? Unless they really don't care about growth unless they approve it !

My point is Indy bowl doesn't understand the value Tech brings to their bowl, they believe Tech is fortunate to receive their attention.
Additionally SBC and Indy bowl are not the same. I truly believe SBC leaders see the value Tech brings.

look, we could all tout the merits of our respective programs as we see it and come up with a thousand reasons ours is better, and many of them would be based on emotion rather than statistics( maybe my dad and his dad went to NLU/ULM and it is ingrained in me, or maybe I grew up a waterskiier and Bayou Desiard running through the campus cant be beat) .......or maybe none of that, and I am a shallow sports fan that pops his head up only when we are winning...... I'm wearing my ULM jacket in Lafayette today and love hearing the crap I get............oh, and Mel, are you sure she's a she?????

If they want to know the problem.....it is simple....each I-Bowl board member needs to look in the mirror....there they will see the answer!
