Right, but wouldn't it be even faster to type MW?
That was my point. That anyone who can figure out who CMW is, is going to know who MW is, too.

Nah, we are just multi-taskers.

I don't care if it works our for Mike White in the long run. I want it to work out for him while at LaTech. Hope our people know how to play turning down Tennessee in our favor.
Re: Parrish: UT focusing on Mike White for HC vacancy
I don't think they were offering MW the 1.6 though. The offer was 1m a year if everything that is being said is accurate, and they wouldn't provide stability.
400,000 more isn't anything to sneeze. I am a teacher I would take that in a heart beat, but going to Tenn and struggling, would slow his rise up the ladder a bit. Another good year here and there may be more than 1.6 on the table when the schools come calling next year.
Plus if any of the recent NBA openings take a coach from a good college program that means reshuffling now that could lead to some big openings next year as well.
Re: Parrish: UT focusing on Mike White for HC vacancy
Just a heads up, the T-Wolves could very well take a college coach for their next hire. Names mentioned so far are Donovan, Izzo, and Hoiberg (Iowa State). The GM for the Wolves is good friends with Izzo and Hoiberg. While Izzo seems content to stay at the college level, Hoiberg is believed to have pro ambitions. He could easily be selected as their next coach. Plus he spent some time in the Minnesota organization, so he is a known commodity there.
Just saying if Minnesota does drop down into the college ranks for their next coach, the whole trickle down/domino effect begins again.

When I see MW, I think "Mountain West" because that's the abbreviation for... the Mountain West!

It was inferred that you were concerned about his decision and if it was in his best interest. This is similar to the "I wish him the best" thing our fans say when a coach leaves for another job. I just don't get it. I don't wish them ill, but I don't spread my fandom beyond the team I love.

It's like a great JR football player who would go in the first round, but decided to play his SR year of college ball. He turned down millions, so you hope he doesn't get hurt and everything works out well for him. Even if he's not a Tech player, you don't want to see that happen to anyone from a human perspective.
Mike White is the first Tech coach in my lifetime that turned down millions to stay at Tech. I wish him well in his future!

Offer was $1.3 million per year and they wanted to not give him the extra year to compensate for the $600k buy-out they would owe TECH...
So basically only 2 years guaranteed fully
He wanted more security on the back end of the contract like he had here and they would not give it to him
They tried to go cheap -
They had to come up $300k a year on Tyndall and give him another year of security to avoid more embarrassment - only about $8 million of the contract is guaranteed
If they would of come out with that to Mike White, he would be the new coach at Tenn

I hope this is the way we play it, but this is not totally accurate. While he did "turn down millions" there was not much difference in what Tennessee was willing to guarantee and what he just received in his new Tech contract. Also, he KNOWS that the odds are that a better gig than Tenn will be there next year.
